    Nash would compliment Yao really well. He's an excellent passer. He'll find a way to beat the fronting. He's that good.

    No way giving up Brooks for Nash. Brooks was the key to beat blazers and forced lakers to game 7. Okay. He has no PG skills, no D, no height. But he's fast, tough and clutch. He's already a very good scorer and still improving. I want him stay.

    Nash was MVP but not now. He would have carry the Suns to playoffs if he's still MVP.

    The Suns will trade Nash if he refuses an extension. A team who trades for Nash will want an extension.

    If Yao Ming wants Nash he's got a good ear in Bill Duffy who'll be the main man in Nash's contract discussions with Kerr.

    A few things:

    -Nash played in a run and gun system so it is useless to compare his stats to Brooks or anyone else, because its doubtfull they would translate over if he were a Rocket.
    -Nash is 35 and has one year left on his contract, trading away any of our young studs is not worth it for an aging question mark. If it were just for McGrady, thats a different story.
    -Brooks is really good, whether people want to recogonize it or not, he is only gonna get better. The Luther Head comparisons are rediculous...Luther was a scrub and a gimmick offense player, Brooks is a legitimate point guard.
    -Just because Nash is a better PG than Brooks right now, doesn't mean he would be able to magically solve the Yao fronting problems and be able to get the ball in his hands in the right spot.

    Suns landed last in the draft lottery at 14th. That could help the Rockets.

    nash is 35, so what. how old did john stockton play til? their games aren't based on dunking on others, their games are based on crisp passing and high % perimeter shots as well as getting to the rim for a layup or a pass to another player. if we could get nash for mac, you'd gotta pull the trigger. our window's not that many seasons longer.

    i'd like nash, but PHX will absolutely definitely ask for AB, they wanted to draft him, but we drafted him i think 2 spots ahead of them and got him. i'd wouldn't want to give up AB. he scored 34, 26 vs. lakers and is only getting better. him and lowry, if they continue to improve, are keepers.

    i wouldn't go as far as to say terrible, more like inexperienced. i think nash would fit there like a glove. he's getting open looks, has players who share the ball and can score in the post, take it to the rim. he provides the high % shooting we haven't had since kenny, sam, vernon, and big shot bob left.

    Nash not in hurry to extend deal

    The Suns' upcoming personnel decisions don't just affect the franchise's future. They will affect Steve Nash's future with the franchise.

    Nash, 35, and his agent, Bill Duffy, have let the Suns know that they will wait to see how the Suns roster is altered before getting serious about negotiating a two-year contract extension. If and when that time comes, Duffy said Nash would ask for a raise from the current deal, which is slated to expire after paying him $13.125 million for the 2009-10 season.

    "This is kind of a perplexing time because he (Nash) absolutely wants to win and he loves the (Phoenix) market but all the pieces have to line up properly," Duffy said. "We just want to wait and see what their game plan is so we can sign off on it. We respect their willingness to extend his contract but we also are very cognizant of the team dynamic to make sure it will work in terms of Steve's goals, which are to win a championship."
    Suns General Manager Steve Kerr first approached Nash about a desire to have off-season extension talks during the season and affirmed his stance after the Suns finished 46-36 but out of the playoff picture. At the time, Nash said that being a championship contender was not a must for him to extend his contract.

    Ongoing talks

    He wanted "a really positive and optimistic atmosphere" that "makes the season exciting for one another and fans."

    Kerr, Nash, Suns Managing Partner Robert Sarver and Suns Senior Vice President of Basketball Operations David Griffin held a meeting two weeks after the season to assess the year. Since then, Duffy and Kerr have continued discussions.

    "The conversations have been good," Kerr said. "Steve may want to sit back and assess everything and see where the team is."

    If Nash does not sign an extension this summer, he could play out his contract and enter the 2010 free agency scene that has five or six teams ready to spend big. Nash's stance could affect the Suns' choice in a point guard-heavy draft next month.

    "Before he signs off on any type of extension, he would like to see tangibly what their plans are and, if not, I think that we should probably talk about alternatives, which may include him not being there," Duffy said.

    That likely means Nash would like a voice in Suns' decisions, as he had when he backed trading Shawn Marion and Marcus Banks for Shaquille O'Neal. After the season, Nash said the Suns needed active big men who defend well, and also energetic athletes.

    Rebuilding?

    The formation of the Suns' look will go deep into July free agency but draft time also could paint a picture with selections or trades.

    Nash is currently in his wife's native country, Paraguay, where his charitable foundation is about to open a pre-cancer screening and treatment clinic. His globe-hopping also had him recently in Europe attending soccer games and Hawaii for a family vacation. He also taped a cameo for the HBO show, "Entourage," that will air next season.

    Now, Nash awaits word on who will make up his entourage next season.

    "If it's somewhat of a rebuilding, if that's what we can call it, I'd think it would be a short-term rebuilding where it's more of a tweaking and there's a balance of veteran players and also young, fresh legs where you can succeed," Duffy said.

    mac = veteran
    AB = young fresh legs

    we got ourselves a nice package to send to PHX if they'd bite.

    AB isn't what everyone thinks he is, he's a score-first point guard with a streaky outside shot. we're not gonna win a championship with him running the show unless he improves his decision making, and shooting %, that could take years or maybe would never happen. i say pull the trigger, get a proven winner.
