I like most of your options except maybe the Mike Redd scenario. Wouldn't he be coming off major knee surgery or something along those lines as well??? If so I wouldn't go for that, like Hall & Oats, and insert RJ. Of course I'd have to throw in Caron Butler and fillers for Tracy.
Redd + CV would be awesome. I wouldn't mind the Baron Davis + Marcus C. deal but I wouldn't expect too much out of BD. He is damaged goods and is on the decline. With that said, I think his experience, tenacity, and size would be a great addition to the PG spot.
im down with just johnson for tmac and a filler. if Ben Gordon does'nt get a huge contract offer (which i dont see) i think we can make huge push for him then we could push for a trade of TMAC even more cuz we would'nt need as much compensation for him if we signed gordon... like maybe trade tmac for chandler straight up...or something like that a team would go for.
Even if these trade options were likely, how will these guys impact the chemistry of the current team. It is not enough to bring in talent, but talent w/a work ethic, toughness as well as being able to fit in Adelman's scheme/complement Yao to build on all that was accomplished in 2009.
Rockets already ran away from a Camby/Davis scenario although LAC probably wanted us to take Kaman rather than Camby. Funny... Morey basically admitting moving McGrady is probable. Love the candor.
Bucks or Golden State Bucks. Redd, Sessions, and Charlie V for T Mac, Brooks and Landry. The reason I throw in Landry and Brooks is because we have to give up something I would think to get something back. I think it would have to be s&t for charlie and sessions. Sessions, Lowry Redd, Ron shane, wafer Scola, Charlie V Yao, (mid level back up) Warriors. Maggette, Ellis and Turiaff. For Tracy and Brooks (maybe a filler or two). Ellis, Lowry Maggette, Wafer Ron, Shane Scola, Landry Yao, Turiaff Both scenarios give us a bigger pg and both teams are trying to dump the players that are mention. Golden State are wanting to clean house and so are the Bucks. FA bigs that can be had for mid level or less. Mikki Moore Joe Smith Brandon Bass Chris "Birdman" Anderson Rasheed Wallace McDyess Chris Wilcox Theo Ratliff Drew Gooden All are Unrestricted
Lol I agree getting SHAQ is an excellent idea. Shaq down low and yao going for mid range J is money right there or YAO and SHAQ both down low dominating boards!!!!!!!
Bad idea. That would more than likely bring us to tops in the league in offensive & defensive 3 second violations. That would kinda be funny Yao out at 3 point range with Shaq down low. TWIN TOWERS PART DUEX!!!
If Houston has to give up Landry (it would be crazy to give up Brooks) then why not trade w/Chicago. Bulls need a low post scorer and are trying to dump Hinrich and/or Deng. McGrady & Landry for Hinrich, Deng & Noah. This trade would give the Bulls a long playmaking starting 5 plus allow the Bulls to re-sign Gordon (to come off the bench w/Landry). And Houston gets a long athletic energy 4/5, vet defensive minded PG (who can also play SG) & youth/athleticism at the swing (or trade bait for a quality SG).
So Camby has been racking up 1st team all-defensive awards for years. Some of us have been calling bs on it for years. He gets traded. Everybody says the Nuggets are going to have crap defense. OH GUESS WHAT? They are the best they've ever been defensively. Coincidence? I don't think so. I really can't believe there are still people who want that over-rated scrub. I seriously wouldn't even want the guy to come off our bench. I'd honestly prefer Chuck Hayes. At least he gives effort.
Nash, Amare, Barbosa for Tmac, Brooks, Landry, Cook, Future pick. Nash has two-three more solid years in him. I feel like his numbers were down playing a traditional inside-outside system but maybe that just shows us how inflated run-gun statistics are. He is an excellent passer and a great shooter, that will be all we need. We have great help defense on this team and Lowry would still provide a defensive presence at the point. Amar'e allows us to match the size of other teams and he will take pressure off Yao. Yao is a better shooter than Shaq and can actually play further from the basket so the paint won't be as congested as it was in Phoenix. He can also slide over to the 5 when Scola comes in and our front court won't miss a beat. That would be one of the best front courts in the league. Barbosa can come off the bench with Lowry and Von Wafer to form a devastating run and gun second unit. For the Suns they get out of three contracts and replace them with expiring and rookie contracts. Tmac and Cook represent about 25 million off the books next year. Brooks and Landry are young, coming off a fantastic series against the Lakers, and are on bargain contracts. They will help jump start the Sun's rebuilding. With Shaq and Tmac off the books in a year, possibly a top 3 pick, the Sun's will be on the right track to make a splash if they play their cards right. Yao 31 min Amare 18 min Dorsey (garbage minutes) Amare 20 min Scola 28 min Hayes (spot duty) Battier 33 min Wafer 15 min Artest 30 min Barbosa 18 min Nash 30 min Lowry 18 min None of our starters will have to log many minutes. This will preserve them through out the season and keep them fresh, ala Spurs.
Don't Nash and Amare both have max or near max contracts? How does that equal Tmac's contract when Landry and Cook combined probably equal's Barbosa's contract?
Lots of rumors floating about that New Orleans is in bad enough financial shape that they would consider including Chris Paul in a deal to shed some of their worst contracts. http://mavsblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2009/04/getting-chris-paul-could-be-plan-a-for-m.html http://www.freep.com/article/20090503/COL08/905030451/1048/SPORTS/Hornets++Pistons+win+in+Paul+trade Any truth to the stories? Probably not, but Morey's first call of the offseason should be to New Orleans to find out for sure. If it's false, then no harm done. But if it was true, then you offer TMac and Brooks for whatever they want to package with Paul. It's not a total salary dump, they'd have to wait a year for McGrady to come off the books but they do get a replacement PG with potential. As I said, the Hornets probably aren't that desparate but you don't do anything else until you know that for a fact. If we're going to go over the tax threshold then it needs to be for someone that is the final piece. This would be one of those deals.
Even if NO is looking to deal their franchise player, Houston won't be able to offer the best package.
