Stephen Jackson = Vernon Maxwell 2.0 Golden State has some nice players. Of course, I would love to get Biedrens because he instantly solves the backup Center problem. He is also good enough to start if Yao is injured and mobile enough to play PF against bigger lineups. Not counting on getting him but...
Stephen Jackson looks like a very good player from afar, but for his career he shoots less than 42% from the field and 34% from the 3 pt line. He is a volume shooter just as tmac is. Jackson, like Ron, takes a ton of bad shots, he shoots early in the shot clock and likes long jumpers. The one thing Jackson does better than Ron is dribble and pass, he isn't Tmac with the ball in his hands but he isn't the bumbling fumbling fool that Ron looks like at times. I don't think Stephen Jackson is the answer to the Rockets inefficient offense, if anything, he just exacerbates the problem. Monte Ellis, who will be difficult to get, is a 45% - 46% shooter from the field, but a poor 3 pt shooter, that means he attacks the basket and shoots high percentage shots, and he doesn't settle for long jumpers. Ellis takes a lot of 15-17 ft jumps, and he hits them at a high clip. Ellis would be the perfect player to help increase the Rox offensive efficiency. Corey Maggette is closer to Monte Ellis than he is to Stephen Jackson. Another player that attacks the basket and shoots 15-18 foot jumpers with pretty good accuracy. Maggette is also a mediocre 3 pt shooter, and doesn't settle for them too often. That all means that I'm for trading for Maggette and Ellis, but definitely not for Jackson.
He is a volume shooter, but not as bad as Ron.I don't have stats in front of me, but he played extremely well against the Mavs when GS beat them and was only 2nd in overall impact after Baron. He also defended Dirk confidently, and just as importantly controlled the tempo of the game consistently. He handled the ball almost as much as Baron and didn't turn it over that much. Jackson also hasn't slowed down. He is not as crazy as people think he is,but I do admit that being a 2nd option on offense is much more likely to bring out the best in him as compared to being a 3rd option. This may still work because of the fronting issues that Yao faces. I know I'm guessing that Ron and he might sacrifice their respective games in order to win,but it would be a gamble without a doubt which might not work. One of them might have to go. The bottom line for me is that Jackson and Ron are big hearted guys who aren't soft and are quite skilled too despite their weaknesses. Management should look for a better deal too,but this might be worth the gamble IMO.
As I said before, if they give Ellis and Jackson, I will give them anything outside of Yao and Scola.
I dont think it would be wise to have jackson and ron on the same squad. I like tough guys like both guys, but its too much to have both. Thats why i said jackson, maggette and turiaf for tracy and barry. Jackson and Shane could start and bring corey in for both guys. You could play them all 32 mins each and have production on the court along with size all the time. All 3 will bring something different also.
lol, there's no **** in GSW's team worthy of t-mac's expiring contract. or at most: Monta + Mags + Anthony Morrow+1st round pick this year for T-mac + Cook
Chris Mullin's contract was not renewed, and his handling of Monta Ellis' situation (not punishing him for the moped incident) is the no. 1 cited reason (though fan sentiment here seems to be behind Mullin and Ellis and not GSW president Robert Rowell who essentially fired Mullin). Seems that Ellis' situation is not entirely dissimilar from T-Mac's (i.e., formerly untouchable), though I'm sure there will be no shortage of bidders.
A lot of you are forgetting that we are talking about Tracy McGrady here. He is still an elite player. He is working out with Tim Grover, the guy who got Dwayne Wade back from injury, so he's definitely not done yet. If he does get dealt, it better be for Ellis and others. Ellis screwed up with the moped incident but still had superstar potential. Remember, just before the moped incident the Warriors were ready to build their team around him.
Tracy for Ellis and Jackson would be sick. Ellis is a great scorer and say what you want about Jackson but he's a 20, 5 and 5 guy in GS.
I could honestly envision McGrady & Lowry for Jackson & Nash. PHX getting Ellis and Lowry. GS getting cap space and draft picks.
No rumors, just your speculations. I don't want to sound like Clutch Crew, but I don't think it deserved a new thread. You have the official one about the offseason.
