With Boozer most likely leaving and AK being absolute crap, unless Jazz signs another stud to go with DWill, Jazz aren't looking at a very bright future. Krover might be leaving as well.

on paper, he reall is shorter, maybe not 6'8 or 6'9, but 6'10, considering he's not long , athletic, or a high jumper he's still undersized. He'd be a good addition, i just dont think he should be our only big man addition and back up center. I doubt we could get him AND another big man, so i'd rather go with what we need most , and that's a long PF/C who rebounds and blocks shots.

LOL... for some reason every time I see Birdman on my TV I feel like vomiting... He is even more colorful than Rodman!

Nope. He makes over $7 million next year, no team or player option.

Okur is way out of our price range he got a large contract from utah and this was before his most productive seasons (including one that say him named an all-star replacement)

i dont know his age and all but Okur will command around 8-10 million easy I dont know if the Rockets will spend that money to get him.

Besides the last time we got a big man (or any other player) that was on the jazz they didnt really work out here (see: Carr, Antoine Andersen, Shanden)

Kristic would be nice but he isnt much of a defender and I think he has a contract signed with OKC Thunder.

Personally I wouldnt mind dealing to try to get Nick Collison from the Thunder he is 6'10 good rebounder moves well without the ball on offense to get layups/dunks...decent jump shot. he is making ~ 6-7 million which is reasonable for a big man

LOL. Birdman does look like a douche and I'm not so sure about his attitude either but he does produce. He brings that physical shot blocking presence who can defend and dunk. He also made a little over a million this year for the Nuggets.

i still want to steal Gasol from memphis...he's somewhat physically stiff too, but he moves his weight around well...and he's a legit 7 footer, maybe 7'1

Okur could easily go to other team to be the starting C. When would he come to Rockets to be a backup? So stop dreaming.

I think he's every bit of 6-11 without athletism, Im not a big Okur fan and agree with you about finding a big rebounder and shotblocker thats halfway athletic.

Considering how completely crappy the 2009 FA is, all any Rox fan can do is dream...

With Okur, the Rockets could drop Yao's minutes down to 25-28 per game and not worry too much about suffering on offense. That gives him a good 20 minutes of time at the center slot, and maybe another 10-15 minutes at PF (Landry becomes expendible).

Why no one speaks about Marcin Gortat? my man!!

He has a very similar offensive game as Gasol and a better defensive game.

    Also, what about Andrea Bargnani?

so does no one like Gasol, if so for what reason? Ive talked about him in two threads and no one says good or bad things about him...

Rasheed Wallace has already said that if he doesn't get $8 million, he will retire. So he isn't an option because he isn't worth that much.

Okur is going to get at least $8-$10 million and we can't afford that. The guy averages 17 points per game, 8 rebounds, and shoots 45% from 3s. A lot of teams will want him.

You guys need to realize that we have virtually NO salary cap room. We are right up against the luxury tax right now. The only reason we can give Artest money is because we have his Bird rights and thus can go over the cap to sign him. We can't do that with regular free agents unless we sign them to the MLE. Players like Wallace and Okur are not going to sign for the MLE.

i think rasho is realistic, he's a decent post up player and a decent rebounder. remember watching him in toronto, played a good backup role for bosh

compared to last year I'd like to take almost any near 7' that can help alleviate some of yao's minutes without sucking so badly.

Rasheed would be awesome to have. And no to Okur...unless Yao beats him up on the first day of practice.
