TRADE ACCEPTED!!! Sorry it took so long, but I'm back with another edition of "Let's Make A Deal/Trade Accepted". It looks like we're going to draft Ming, but I just had to do one more "Homer Trade" before the draft. So, let's get to it. Houston sends Rice/#1 pick to Chicago. Houston sends Moochie to the Clippers. Houston sends KT/#15 pick to Washington. Chicago sends Curry/Robinson to Washington. Chicago sends Bagaric/#2 overall pick to the Clippers. The Clippers send Odom/#12 pick to Houston. The Clippers send #8 pick to Washington. Washington sends Kwame/Davis/Etan/#11 pick to Houston. In summation: Chicago acquires Yao Ming/Rice. The Clippers acquire Jason (Jay) Williams/Moochie/Bagaric. Washington acquires Curry/Robinson/KT/#8/#15 picks. Houston acquires Odom/Kwame/Davis/Etan/#11/#12 picks. Houston's lineup for next year would be: C: Kwame/Cato/Collier/#12(Stoudemire/Ely/Tskitishvili?) PF: Griffin/Taylor/ET SF: Odom/T-Mo/#11(Jeffries?) SG: Mobley/Davis PG: Francis/Brown/#11 or #12 (Welsch?) I just love being a homer & fan of the Houston Rockets.
it looks good, except the center spot. it seems there is a bunch of ok talent there, but nobody that can really start.
I don't want Kwame, he seems lazy and out of shape. Even Jordan couldn't get through to him. I don't want Cato II.
Homer trade?!? Just where does this trade help the Rockets besides Odom ( which is NOT worth the #1 pick)? Kwami Brown is years away from competeing at the NBA level. Now if we got Curry instead of Brown....... How about #1 ,15, Cato to Atlanta for Theo Ratliff and Shareef Abdul Rahim. or #1, 15, KT, Norris to Clipps for Brand and Odom. Just thought I would add some more
I would not give Krause the #1 for anything short of Curry and their #2. I know it is a lopsided trade but screw Krause...if he wants it bad enough there it is.
I realize that Kwame struggled most of the year. Partly because he had some medical condition that caused him to get fatigued rather quickly & partly because he was fresh out of high school. I haven't seen him play, but have heard that he's as quick as a hiccup. Here's a link to his game by game stats. Take special note of the stats he was putting up in April, when he finally got some starter minutes. He's 6'11" 243 lbs. I'd have to say that, that makes him a center in my book. http://www.nba.com/playerfile/kwame_brown/game_by_game_stats.html
How about this one since the Chinese are gung-ho for NY: Knicks send #7. #36 and 2003 #1 (uncon) to Houston. Knicks send Camby + Sprewell to Seattle. Seattle sends Rashard Lewis and 2003 #1 (uncon) to Houston. Houston sends #1 (Ming) and K.T. to Knicks. Houston receives Lewis, #7, two unconditional 2003 #1s, #36 Seattle receives Camby and Sprewell. N.Y. receives Ming and K.T. Of course, that leaves Cato as center unless we can get Jerome James along with Lewis from Seattle. However, James is a FA so Seattle can't "trade" him but perhaps we can. Now, I really don't like this trade. This is only a what if we get forced to trade Ming by the Chinese with the collusion of David Stern.
Sorry, not possible. Lewis has a player option and can't be involved in draft day trades. Sprewell and Camby make about $18m. If Lewis signs with Seattle he becomes a BYC player.
Damn...Gater, if the Rockets ever need to hire another capologist, they need to look no further than this board.
I'd tweak it a little- send Curry to us and let Washington keep Kwame, and have 12 going to Chicago (Curry/#2/Robinson for #1/Rice isn't very fair). Personally, I'd replace Davis with Lue (for his defense). Draft Borchardt at 11. Curry/Borchardt/Cato Griffin/Taylor/Etan Odom/Morris Mobley Francis/Lue Use the 2nd rounder on another 2/3, try to trade Cato for a 2/3 or a combo guard, and fill the rest in with the MCE via free agency.
I think what I've come to realize is that quantity is not what we seek from a trade of the #1 pick. No matter how many players and draft picks we get, there is going to have to be that one special player we get back. Then after that we can concern ourselves with throw-ins. I think that there are less than a dozen players in the league worth the number one by themselves or with additional compensation. Even then, only 7 or 8 really meet our needs. Of those 7 or 8, only 3 or 4 could possibly even be available. I think trade discussion starts and ends there. No New York No Golden State No Cleveland No Charlotte No Seattle No Milwaukee The Clippers - not with Odom as the centerpiece Minnesota - unlikely because of salary cap issues San Antonio - with salary and quality throw ins from us - probably not going to happen Memphis - Unless they want JayWill but we would want Pau and the 4th (think Hardaway plus 3 number ones when this sounds excessive) Lakers - c'mon - why did I even type it Chicago - Intriguing because they have the next best pick - either Chandler or Curry and change in addition to releaving us of some heavy contracts I am starting to get a picture of why this pick will be easier taken than given.
Thanks, NJR. The true "Big Guns" are aelliott, heypartner, and NIKEstrad. Although none has officially sanctioned me, I have basically been trying to "apprentice" myself in my 2 years here. PS - There is probably one other poster who quailfies as a "Big Gun" but they don't post often. My apologies for their omission.
How's this for a crazy trade, a nice 4-way deal inspired by Hottoddie. Houston trades: PF Jason Collier (4.2 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 0.4 apg in 14.6 minutes) SF Glen Rice (8.6 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 1.6 apg in 30.3 minutes) SF Maurice Taylor (8.6 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 1.6 apg in 30.3 minutes) PG Moochie Norris (8.1 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 4.9 apg in 27.4 minutes) PF Kenny Thomas (14.1 ppg, 7.2 rpg, 1.9 apg in 34.5 minutes) #1 Pick #15 Pick Houston receives: SF Kevin Garnett (21.2 ppg, 12.1 rpg, 5.2 apg in 39.2 minutes) PG Earl Boykins (4.1 ppg, 0.8 rpg, 2.1 apg in 11.2 minutes) #12 Pick Change in team outlook: -9.7 ppg, -3.0 rpg, and -1.5 apg. Minnesota trades: SF Kevin Garnett (21.2 ppg, 12.1 rpg, 5.2 apg in 39.2 minutes) Minnesota receives: SF Glen Rice (8.6 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 1.6 apg in 20 games) C Eddy Curry (6.7 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 0.4 apg in 72 games) SF Eddie Robinson (9.0 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 1.3 apg in 29 games) SF Lamar Odom (13.1 ppg, 6.1 rpg, 5.9 apg in 29 games) #8 Pick #15 Pick Change in team outlook: +16.2 ppg, +2.9 rpg, and +4.0 apg. Chicago trades: C Eddy Curry (6.7 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 0.4 apg in 16.0 minutes) SF Eddie Robinson (9.0 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 1.3 apg in 22.5 minutes) #2 Pick Chicago receives: PF Jason Collier (4.2 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 0.4 apg in 25 games) SF Maurice Taylor (8.6 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 1.6 apg in 20 games) #1 Pick Change in team outlook: -11.5 ppg, -3.2 rpg, and -1.3 apg. L.A. Clippers trades: PG Earl Boykins (4.1 ppg, 0.8 rpg, 2.1 apg in 11.2 minutes) SF Lamar Odom (13.1 ppg, 6.1 rpg, 5.9 apg in 34.5 minutes) #8 Pick #12 Pick L.A. Clippers receives: PG Moochie Norris (8.1 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 4.9 apg in 82 games) PF Kenny Thomas (14.1 ppg, 7.2 rpg, 1.9 apg in 72 games) #2 Pick Change in team outlook: +5.0 ppg, +3.3 rpg, and -1.2 apg. TRADE ACCEPTED I don't think it would ever come off, but aside from Chicago, no one gets really screwed in this deal I don't think. (Feel free to correct me on that ) The T-wolves take on a lot of players, but at least 2 of them in Curry and Odom are useful ones that would be kept. Plus with the 8 and 15, they can make some moves to trade quantity for quality. Let me know what you think P.S. I know this wouldn't ever come off but it's fun to speculate and make up stupid trades
