I wouldn't be so sure about that.. Loosing again would probably make him want to leave his softies for a stronger and hungrier cast. After all, LA without Kobe and Gasol would probably not have performed as well as the Rockets have.
I'm not saying he would want to come here, i'm saying he would consider moving if a better option presented itself. The guy desperately wants to win without Shaq.

    Lol @ this thread.

OFC you re-sign Ron Artest. There's no other player at $8 - $10 million that would be able to contribute to this team the way Artest did.

Are numbers really what you're going to look at? Is that it? Or does that only apply to Shane Battier? People here are idiots sometimes. When Shane Battier goes on offensive droughts, people say it's not his game. When Artest fails to deliver the numbers, people say trade his a$$. Do you really think the Rockets would play better if Artest just stopped shooting?

The bottom line is -- if it's impossible (which I'm sure it is) -- to keep Artest at around 12 FGA per game next year, you want him back. He was never supposed to be the #1 option. EVER. It's not entirely his fault. Also, being the only "big name" player on this active roster probably led him to do what he did. He probably felt obligated to shoot. We all know that if he only shot the ball 10 times, he'd be criticize too if the Rockets lose.
    ---
Bottom-line: This forum has a bunch of knee-jerk crybabies. After a couple games against the Blazers, and the Round 1 win, people were saying things like "Sign this man already!!" Now it's like...trade him for Jigglypuff.

Ron Artest is getting old and declining? Just how old is he? And at what age do we consider healthy? 24? The Rockets shouldn't expect to compete too much if all we want are players at age 25 and then get rid of them after 29.

Ron Artest, Aaron Brooks, Luis Scola -- your scoring leaders? LOL OMG WTF
Let's blame them if they don't play too well against the #1 seed in the West

Ron is sign and trade bait if he wants more than 3 years over $10million per year. I think the Rockets can wait him out to get a reasonable deal for him. I like him on the team, but he's not an untouchable. Nobody on this team is anymore.

To all the people saying he is not worth 10 mil a year: Do you know what kind of players make 10 mil a year? that is a bargain if anything for ron.

This is just a short list of player making more than what you are expecting us to get Ron for next season: (all are making above $9 mil with most above $10 mil)

    -Boris Diaw
    -Kirk Hinrich
    -Luol Deng
    -Wally Szczerbiak
    -Erick Dampier
    -Nene
    -Kenyon Martin
    -Rasheed Wallace
    -Tayshaun Prince
    -Monta Ellis
    -Andris Biedrins
    -Mike Dunleavy
    -Troy Murphy
    -Marcus Camby
    -Lamar Odom
    -Jermaine O'Neal
    -Bobby Simmons
    -Peja
    -Eddie Curry
    -Larry Hughes
    -Al Harrington
    -Quentin Richardson
    -Samuel Dalembert
    -Raef LaFrentz
    -Kenny Thomas
    -Shawn Marion

Darko Milicic is currently making only $300,000 less than Ron is making now

I for one think Ron is better than every player on that list, so he should at least get their money.

    -Kirk Hinrich
    -Luol Deng
    -Nene
    -Kenyon Martin
    -Rasheed Wallace
    -Tayshaun Prince
    -Monta Ellis
    -Andris Biedrins
    -Troy Murphy
    -Marcus Camby
    -Shawn Marion

I for one think Ron is not better than every player left on that list...but, your point is taken. He is worth 3/27 - 4/36 or something sililar.

Artest > Allen. Ray - Ray is fine for his team, Ron - Ron is better.

As tempting as that scenario is, I'd go for it eventho because

    1. Either Yao or Tracy is injured every year
    2. Our role players with a playmaker would have beaten this Lakers team
    3. It's been too long since Houston has won anything big (not taking anything away from the Dynamo)
    4. I'm sure Les would go over the cap for Kobe

At the end of the day, Kobe will never leave LA. Kobe might not be the best teammate but he's a competitor and he was the only one that showed up to play in Houston for the Lakers besides Gasol's brief appearance at times. Kobe, for sure, will not have motivate his team to play/show up for games as hard as we play and possibly he'll be viewed differently as a teammate. Compared to other years, I've never heard Kobe praise/talk about another team like he has us in his postgame interviews. In this world, it could be possible but highly doubtful.

I voted sign Von, but mainly because it would beneficial for the team to have him as a decent trade asset "IF" something comes along the way...

Von has great heart, tough personality, superior defense, and high basketball IQ when he is mentally stable. However, his brain shrink too often and once that happens, he is a huge liability to the team and a momentum killer. Also, he often over-estimated his offensive skills...

I think most would agree that most of the above are overpaid and have horrible contracts. Six of the players were signed by Chris Mullen and he doesn't have a job anymore with Golden State precisely because of his player salary policies. Just because there are overpaid players doesn't mean we should make Ron one. Morey has to think of the future and the re-signings of Scola, Brooks, Wafer, Lowry.

I think Morey was brought in, so he could find bargains. Overpaying Ron represents the old way the Rockets did business, but I don't think that's how they do things anymore. The more I think about it, the more I hope the Rockets take a pass on Ron. I think he did everything he was expected to do, but there are just smarter ways to spend that money, and Daryl is a very smart guy.

I disagree, I think Ray is a better player than Ron is.....or was.....Ray is a borderline hall of famer, Ron is not.

People try to realize that Ron and Shane provide the same thing, and that a good team can not afford 2 offensively challenged wings on the floor at the same time.

You take either Ron or Shane away and you put in a better Wing scorer with decent defense and the team is better overall and you don't lose game 7 by only scoring 70 points, something a high school team could do....

I vote Ron to go because he plays like a blithering IDIOT too often on offense at least Shane plays within the team framework.

If Ron and Shane are starting again next year this team will not be a championship contender.

DM has already stated that the organization wants him back and are planning to re-sign him. So obviously they are going to try to re-sign him but the real question is at what price? Honestly, I'd prefer a player who plays defense like Ron but has an offensive game and plays within the system. If Ron asks for too much I'd say go for someone like Shawn Marion, whos a free agent I believe. The only thing with Marion is that he's been injured...so technically he'd fit right in...
