I hear ya but at $10-13M per season it's definitely worth the risk. Of course, in order to put together any serious offer we would likely need to involve a third team that has some draft picks at their disposal considering the trade-star-for-financial-reasons returning package almost certainly will consist of receiving expiring contracts, cap relief and young talent plus draft picks.

We would almost certainly have to take on some combination of Nocioni, Udrih or Garcia's terrible contracts. Given that a player like Udrih is a serviceable PG I would be willing to part with Brooks in order to obtain Martin. Dangling Brooks + T-Mac's expiring contract should be enough to at least get Sacramento's attention if they indeed are looking to cut salary. Probably not enough to get a player like Martin but it's a starting point. The problem is where do these draft picks they would almost certainly want come from?

Well I think the Rockets should resign Artest. Try to resign Wafer for as low as possible. If he ask for too much, let him walk. Tyrus Thomas would be great, but I can't really see the Bulls giving him up. It would take a lot, because he's really coming along as a player and knows his role.

I think the Rockets should use McGrady's expiring contract to kill two birds with one stone - get a play making wing player and acquire a backup center. They're probably going to have to take on long term contracts as a result and maybe a bad one too. However, if it's the right players, I don't see anything wrong with that. I would send T-Mac to Golden State for Stephen Jackson, Biedrins, and Crawford. Crawford would be the bad contract the Rockets would have to take on for the deal to work salary wise. His contract only has two more years left on it and if Wafer asks for too much, the Rockets can let him walk and give Crawford Von's mins. Jackson and Biedrins have 5 and 6 years left on their deals, but their salaries are manageable. Also as insurance, I would trade Barry's expiring contract to NJ for Sean Williams. Williams has had problems, but he's from Houston and he would be a nice fit here. He's a legit 6'10", highly athletic with long arms and a very good shot blocker and finisher around the rim. Both Biedrins and Williams can play alongside Yao as well if need be. Biedrins is extremely capable and can help reduce Yao's mpg, which would result in less wear and tear on his body and decrease the chances of injury for him. I think the Warriors would do the deal for the cap relief. The lineup would look like this next season:

    Brooks/Lowry
    Artest/Crawford
    Jackson/Battier
    Yao/Biedrins/Williams
    Scola/Landry/Williams

Not including Williams, that is a formidable 10 man rotation that has size, athleticism, defense, and offense in my opinion. I think that team could be considered a serious title contender.

First off, i dont think its a good idea to have ron and jackson on the same squad. Next, biedrens isnt going anywhere. He's young and too productive even for gsw. Now jackson, maggette, and turiaf for tracy makes sense and let wafer and ron walk.

OK I just found the blockbuster trade to solve all our problems. As verified by RealGM:

    Nash and Shaq
    for
    TMac, Battier, Scola, Barry

    Our lineup would be:
    1) Nash/Lowry -- finally a real distributor!
    2) AB/Wafer -- slide AB here for scoring, 3's
    3) Artest -- will help maintain toughness
    4) Landry/Hayes-- time to promote Carl
    5) Yao/Shaq -- wow the endless possibilities here!

Can you say championship, laker/cleveland killing lineup here?

    Lol @ baller4life315.

@Leebigez: I wasn't sure if GS would be willing to depart with Biedrins, but it never hurts to ask. Turiaf isn't bad, but I would prefer Randolph instead if we can't get Biedrins. I wouldn't be interested in Brandon Wright. For the longest time, I was a fan of Maggette, but after analyzing his play, I'm not sure if I would want him on this team. He brings instant offense and he's real effective at getting to the free throw line, but his shot selection isn't very good and he shoots way too much. Crawford has many of these same problems but not to the same extent as Maggette and his contract only has 2 more years left on it. I wouldn't expect Crawford to play real big mins and I really don't like Maggette's contract.

Now for the people saying you don't want Artest and Jackson on the same team, I respectfully disagree. Both guys have shown that they've matured as people and players if that's your concern. Jackson had a nagging toe problem for a while that he got fixed at the end of the season, but he still led the league in mins played and is a very underrated playmaker. He had 6.5 assists per game this past season and would've had more if the guys on his team were better finishers. Jackson also gives you another very good defender, a guy who can avg 20 ppg, at least 5 rpg, and a big shot maker. In addition to the things above, he adds to what Artest brings to this team with his toughness and unwillingness to back down from challenges. He also adds height and athleticism. I don't see a conflict with those two on the same team. If anything, they would have great chemistry. They're not the same players from Indiana in 2004 and Jackson is not the ball stopper he used to be. I would do it.

I'd say keep Tmac let his contract expire in 2010, unless you can get CP3 or Mike Bibby or Durant in return

GS probably wants Crawford out, possibly Maggette too. I like S.Jackson, but I doubt if they will move him. Maggette would be ok(not too keen on him). Turiaf would be nice, but he is their only hustle player apart from Biedrins. I would rather prefer to keep away from Crawford. Don't see anyone else being moved from their team apart from fillers.

That sounds good, but I doubt the Wizards would do it. We'd probably have to throw in Landry and maybe Cook/Barry. Even then, it's a stretch.

We already have more than enough players on 3. What we need is an elite sg who can create for his own and shoot better than Ronron.

Queens are rebuilding and Kmart is not really what they can build around. Tmac+AB for Kmart+Beno+Thomas is a win-win deal.

    caron butler.

    get it done morey.

washington wants to cut salary. and we can give them salary.

we'll give them brooks for butler with them lacking a PG since Agent 0 is their own version of our T-Mac.

Brooks + landry + cook for Butler + Young
