They like Artest staying here, AND they were commending T-mac for the amount of work he was putting into his workouts/rehabilitation right now

Initially, I was on the fence about whether or not we should keep Ron. Definitely, money is the main thing to consider. I think if Ron is willing to stay for $8M/season (which isn't too much more than a mid-level player) then I think that he is worth it. Everyone is down about how he played the last few games but when you look at his stats when Yao was in the lineup- he was phenomenal. And since I'm planning to see Yao on the court for the next few seasons in a Rocket's uniform, I think that we will have a productive Artest too.

What really made me decide we should keep Ron however, was his locker room interview where he says that he hopes he can stay and see this team grow and be a part of it. To me, that says alot about what Artest thinks about the Rockets and the desire he has to play for us.

I was watching Sports Sunday on fox26, they had Charlie P on from 790. He said he he doesn't think any team will give Artest more than the MLE. He said the Rockets should sign him to a deal around 3yrs-18MIL

That kind of deal, I would be ok with...but would Ron be ok with it?

I think Ron feels he has been underpaid his entire career and is looking to get paid.....the landscape has changed, and his game has significantly declined...

I would not pay him more than the market value...that is all he is worth.....

Don't handcuff the franchise with a bad contract for a declining player, no matter how tough he is...

I'd be thrilled and say it's a no brainer if we get him for the MLE. We've wasted that kind of money on far worse players. Ron would be a bargain at MLE $. Compared to other guys who get that kind of contract, Artest is far superior.

    A FRICKEN MEN !!!

That is what I said all fricken year that he is redundant on this team.

Keep Shane because he is so smart and good on the perimeter.

Sign and Trade Ron for a position of need.

Do you guys realize that Ron took the most shots of any Rocket in the playoffs and was only the 3rd leading scorer?

He is SOOOO inefficient and hurts the team so much with his knuckleheaded attempts to take the game over....

The nastiness, the willingness to take shots, the ability to finish down low, handle the ball better also{because of stronger hands).

    I agree with this...

Get a better shooter, having another Rafer Alston like shooter is not helping.

ROFLMAO....when? Ron only does this when teams guard him with a smaller 2 guard..they have stopped doing that, and he shot terrible around the rim this year, look up his hot spots.....lol....

    ROFLMAO....really?

I would say that handling the ball is not a strength of either of them.

    Bingo.

If we get a decent enough offensive option or two in return for McGrady, Ron won't be as eager to go John Wayne so much... and his shot selection isn't as bad as its being played up, its certainly no worse than McGrady's.

When Dada and I agree....well, that's probably about a one in a lifetime event....so you know it must be true.

Ron Artest hurt us more then helped. Primarily offensively.

We needed him before Brooks came into his own, and he was a necessary evil, but now Ron just chucks bad shots and derails the offensive flow.

We didn't lose today on D, we lost on O.

If you don't know the willingness to take shots is a big part of being a successful NBA player, you are not paying attention. You don't hold an underman-ed team against Ron.

But, you and DD can live in your fantasy world.
