Don't see Toronto agreeing with that. I'm bad at this cap stuff,so please explain to me how can we utilize the MLE after signing Ron?

That's pretty good. What do you think about doing a sign and trade of Ron Artest for Josh Howard? Is that possible?

We get a good offensive wing. Shane gets closer to the White House. And Carl gets the hell away from those dudes that are trying to cap him. Win-win-win.

I think getting Marion would make Ron unnecessary. They both play good defense but Marion can legitimately play the 2,3, or 4 and has a much better grasp of his own limitations. If anything i would rather just sign Marion and let Artest walk.

There's likely to be alot more people trying to cap him in DC.

I don't think Washington would want Landry, since they're probably gonna get Blake Griffin with the number 1 pick.

(IF they get the 1st pick)

Marion turned down an extension from the Heat for $30M over 3yrs. He's looking for much more.

Deke had a "Yao Ming bonus" in his chinese shoe deal, ie he got extra money for being on the same team as Yao. Artest signed with the same company. So maybe the Rockets can avoid overpaying Artest at $9M per year?

I agree for the most part, but I don't think Wafer is somebody to hold onto. Maybe I haven't seen him go off enough times in the regular season, but I honestly don't think he's that good of a fit for the Rockets. He's a black hole for the ball and he's a streaky shooter. He doesn't know how or when to pass (i.e. when his shots aren't falling).

The three people I think that won't be traded are Artest, Battier, and Yao (not necessarily in any order). Everyone else is fair game if we need to package somebody to trade with T-Mac. Personally, I'd like to keep T-Mac, but there's a big gap between his cost and his value right now IMHO. Unless he takes a fairly big pay cut, I think keeping him would hurt the Rockets more than it helps.

People I think the Rockets should shop around are Brian Cook, Wafer, and T-Mac. I hate to say it, but Hayes, Landry, and Barry are also possible trade fodder if necessary. After seeing Dorsey's workouts with CD, I think he should be up on the trading block too. He's just too raw, and doesn't look like he'll develop into anything decent for at least another 3-4 years, if ever.

I mentioned this in the "serious discussion about tmac's expiring contract" thread that nobody seems to be reading anymore but my new favorite crazy trade proposal is:

    Brooks
    T-mac
    Cook

    for

    Shaq
    Nash

Phoenix gets under the luxury tax and acquires a young pg that just had a breakout performance in the playoffs, who would fit perfectly in their "7 seconds or less" offense.

The Rox make the ultimate "win now" deal. 48 minutes of Yao/Shaq at center would be devastating. Shaq would be the perfect Yao-insurance. And both of them could have their minutes limited.

We'd finally have a legit playmaker at point, who has the clout to take the ball out of Artest's hands when he's going crazy.

Just re-sign Artest and Wafer and that's a team that you can go to war with.

In summary the Rox would have 48 minutes of mismatches in the middle, two defensive wizards, two energy guys at PF who covers a lot of intangibles while still providing scoring ability, and a clutch PG who shoots an incredible percentage and knows how to run an offense.

We have about $25 mln to find someone (Tmac and Deke), We need a serious backup athletic center and a starting wingman. I thought about resigning Artest, however no one can control his poor shot selection and we don't need him and Von coming off the bench doing dumb things.

**** this trade Tracy bull****. What is wrong with persisting with him for the last year of his contract? If it fails we get 20mill off of the books, going into the biggest Free Agent bonanza in recent history. That is alot of money to throw at Joe Johnson, or Chris Bosh to leave Toronto.

Do you know what Tracy is? He is an upgrade. He is an upgrade over Wafer and a upgrade over Artest. Yes, over Artest. I don't buy into Artest's one-on-one defense, and Tracy is more than just a three point shooter.

I really like that idea of trading for Shaq/Nash.

You know, a variation of that trade occurred to me, as well. The only problem being that both Nash and Shaq are coming up for extensions. Sigh.
