I expect great things from AB next season. Its been a great learning experience for him this postseason.
Sorry, 18 assists, 22 TOs against Lakers. TO is the biggest reason Rockets lost to Lakers, everybody was bad in that department.
Dunno why but I am so excited for next training camp. I think between Lowry and Brooks, one will become the good starting point we need, and the other will grow into that great bobby Jackson role off the bench. Heck, Lowry drilled 2 three's late in game 7 so maybe there was something to he was a better 3 point shooter than his percentage showed. If we think Brooks needs confidence, Lowry needs it much more on that three ball.
Brooks had some awful TOs today but the Lakers actually turned the ball over more. The difference in this game was mostly frontcourt length. 55-33 in rebounds and 13-5 in off. rebounds. Their length and aggressiveness also made it difficult for our entire team (guards and forwards) to get off good shots.
Length is part of the problem, but it goes beyond that. Scola and Landry are just not very good interior defenders. Chuck Hayes is our smallest big, but if we had two Chucks on the floor their size would not have been as much of an issue on the defensive end.
a future star PG. he's still quite raw/young. the problems i saw with him when he struggles is his inability to pass and make plays when he's so deep into the paint b/c he's so short. he has to learn (and that comes with experience) where to go and the creases that he can utilize to pass the ball out to the perimeter. but man offensively, dude can only get better. i'm excited for his future and our future with him manning the point.
You mean like Brian Cook? You can't expect a team to not have a single bad contract, and we do have some. Face it, T-Mac would've been gone if Morey really cared so much about flexibility in the future. You have to balance it with winning. Morey (under the guidance of Les) would be willing to acquire Barbosa if he feels he's worth it.
aaron brooks: 2ps: B 3ps: B speed: A steal: D reb: C- defense: D- passing: C-(without YAO,it will be C+) team maker: C- leadship C game control E+
When his shot is falling he can take over a game, but that matches up with the Steve Francis light, or Bobby Jackson comparisons at this point. My concern with Brooks is what does he bring when his shot isn't falling? It seems he needs to average around 16+ ppg on a good shooting % to be viable. He isn't a particularly good passer or defender and he has a tendency to over dribble the ball with out going any where at times. Poor decision maker isn't exactly a flattering characteristic for your starting PG. I think Brooks would be most effective as the first or second scoring option for the team coming off the bench once the team is healthy again. As a scorer he can thrive, but the starting PG needs to be a distributor too once the team is healthy and that doesn't seem to play to his strengths. He showed that he is capable of big scoring games, but he also showed he is capable of being forced into more turn overs than assists for a series. This was also a playoffs where he was fortunate to face the easiest opposing PG line ups he could hope for in the west.
This is the way I would rate Aaron Brooks. Scoring: B+ Finishing Ability: C Mid-range Game: B 3ps: A speed: A+ steal: B Rebounding: D defense: F passing: F- (with Yao) D- (without Yao) leadership: C game control: D+
This is a really good post and roughly how I feel. The only chance I see for Brooks to be a viable starter on a good team is if he becomes an elite scorer, meaning he consistently scores a lot and does so efficiently. He clearly doesn't do anything else well enough to justify being a starter. The Parker comparisons are silly at this point but that is sort of what he needs to become like in order to become a legit starter. If he can never become an elite scorer, he is backup material at best. He will never be an elite playmaker, floor general or defensive player. He can definitely improve marginally in those areas, and he will actually need to do that even if he does somehow becomes an elite scorer, but it seems highly unlikely for those things to ever be his strong suits.
As far as PG skill goes, I suggest you to review the two consecutive fast breaks in game 7. How a PG runs fast break usually gives you good indication of his play making skills.
Cook's contract is a player's option of one more year for 3.5 mill, he was forced on us to make the salaries match in the Alston trade. We're not exactly behind the 8 ball with his contract. Tmac situation, it's been explained over and over that trading Tmac's contract might result in taking longer worse contracts because Tmac's trade value is so low. YOUR Barbosa proposal, basically is a bad idea IMO. I've never heard Morey mentioning him or reading anything of that like before so I'm left to guess that it's just your wishful thinking that you came up while sitting on the toilet one day.
