If we can progress in the playoffs, starting with beating LA, I cannot help but thinking of "Ronny and the Miracles" as a nickname for this team. Obviously remembering the Kansas team in the 80s, that went on a run to win the NCAA title, nicknamed Danny and the Miracles (Danny Manning). Plus Ronny is more catchy than Luisy or Aarony.

I know that Artest has not been our best player in the playoffs, but with Yao out, our team consists of a bunch of guys that many fans don't know anything about, Ron is definitely the biggest "name" on the team, and honestly outside of Battier, he may be the only guy a casual NBA fan knows. He also provides some great interviews for the media and draws most of their attention. Artest has also been the lightening rod this series with his Kobe confrontations.

Anyways, somewhat tongue in cheek, if we can get past LA in Game 7, I would like to dub this team, Ronny and the Miracles!! ;)

while I can see the parallel of an unsung team making it all the way, I think dubbing this team "ronny and the miracles" is undervaluing ron's teammates. manning had no one, NO ONE, on that team. it was him and an elite coach (larry brown).

comparatively, brooks is a legit nba point guard. his percieved weaknesses (size, strength, defense) have been a complete neutralized by his speed and by our team defense. there's a reason other nba teams called about his availability.

scola is also a legit nba talent. I'd go as far as to call him a borderline allstar talent. he's otis thorpian in his lack of flash, yet prevalence of a hard hat.

landry, also, is a legit nba talent. if he were given 35 mpg, he'd equal or surpass what scola gives us. on a dedicated up-tempo team, he'd be hellacious. he's under the radar, but I see and appreciate his skill set.

no one on that kansas team was close to what scolandry and brooks are, relative to our team and the L. perception-wise, sure, we're ron and the castoffs, but upon further review, I have to overturn your dubbing. :)

    we have for real talent.

I come from China. As one of sincere fans of rox I was inspired deeply by rox warriors. ...My standpoint, that Kobe he who has unbeatable elbows is just like a wildcat,Houston shall beat LA...to stand for most of chinese fans.

    Beat LA! Beat Kobe!

    I agree with verse.

Any new nickname this team takes on should be totally team oriented. "Ronny and the Miracles" sounds like it's putting one player above the rest and that's the furthest thing from reality right now.

if ronny can shoot the ball very well somehow in game 7, we'd have a better chance to win.

Too '60s Motown. Given we have two guys with mohawks, we need something more punk rock.

he had 20+ points in the first 3 games against the Lakers, and would almost certainly have made 30 points in gm.3 if not for the ejection. After those first 3 games, his offense seems to have just dissipated. If we can somehow get that offensive strength back in gm. 7, then lights out LA.

I think Chucky is a better name than Ronny. Chuck, a 6-6 undersized PF, thrown into the fire to defend against two 7-footers. If that's not the personification of a miracle, I don't know what is.
