Ask the same question in another NBA board and it won't even be a contest. For my team, I'd rather have Dirk Nowitzki, he is definitly better IMO. If I was a owner, I'd rather have Yao for all the publicity.

In all fairness the mavs should have won the tittle if not for the refs giving 20fts a game to wade.

Maybe, but they got their butts kicked for being unclutch and being able to finish a team off (and playing lax on defense). They have themselves to blame for that.

All the games were pretty close, but wade with the refs help was ungaurdable.

Thank you. Everyone says don't let it come down to that, but honestly if the other guy is getting 20fts a game it's hard to be that much better. These are the NBA finals after all, the difference between teams should be miniscule, and no team can overcome that. People forget that at the end of game 5 Dirk made two clutch plays (rainbow over Shaq, pass to Damp for a dunk out of a double team) only to see that nullified by Wade hitting free throws after both of those plays.

Im one of the biggest Dirk Fans

But Dirk has gone to the finals, his playoff stats are ridiculous as are his game 7 stats, overall Dirk has had a more illustrious career.

Secondly, its unfavorable to comparable these players, two completely different players.

They are two of the best foreign players (non us college) to play in the nba.

Ban me? Reason? Because i didn't say Yao is the best and this is a Rockets forum?

If I said Kobe is better than T-mac, should i deserve a ban also?

Is late please go back to your bed now, kid!

Hakeem played college basketball in the states. That's why i excluded Duncan as well!

Alright ... but I'm pretty sure that's what weslinder was referring to. "Import" doesn't necessarily exclude guys from Nigeria who happened to play college basketball here. Especially on a Rockets board, that sort of thing needs to be qualified.

Well we seem to do a better without Yao to a degree.

Take away Dirk , mavs go down notches in EVERY category.

yao's only argument over dirk is he draws more double team therefore arguably impacts the game more that's assuming dirk has no intangibles to speak of. but dirk has yao beat in the pure production and tangible areas. except that yao's a better paint defender.
if yao could match dirk's number this year, we'll beat the LA. not that we won't beat the LA without either of them... :D

    I meant Dream.

I apologize. I assumed you excluded Tim Duncan because he was born and raised in the US Virgin Islands, which are part of the United States. Hakeem played at U of H, but he's still an international player. As is Dikembe Mutombo and Steve Nash.

man some people are serious homers. yao is great and all but he is in no way more agile or clutch than dirk (minus the miami/gs debacle). if you watch the man play (like in the nuggets series).... he plays with heart and hits clutch shots after clutch shots just to keep his team in the game.

yao: better FG%, more blocks, more rebounds (all not by much)

    dirk: better at everything else
