M. McCutchen T. Washington M. Wunderlich I guess it doesnt matter as much now that we dont have Yao to draw 2-3 offensive fouls a game! But didnt see it on the board so I thought I would share. Any thoughts?.... GO ROCKETS.
Refs are almost meaningless now that Yao is out. Well at least Kobe won't be treated like a golden boy like LeBron and Wade.
Wunderlich, he of the not calling the intentional foul on the Mavs in game 3?? Monty was the one that got the Blazers up in arms because he started calling the post position fouls on their bigs that were let go in games 1 and 2.
Are they the same guys that called the phantom foul on Chuck Hayes in the first quarter? They rewarded Pau Gasol with all those weak spin moves when he clearly had nowhere to go. That is one thing. But the one where Chuck was just standing behind him was an absolute joke and the turning point of the game.
Monty is normally decent as is Washington. I was thinking that Wunderlich might be one of those that is quick to call fouls inside, but I could be wrong. The only person we have to worry about getting into foul trouble is Chuck.
At least it's not a TKO and Crawford is on the crew. If we win 2night, it's assured he'll be in game 7 to insure a Laker Victory to keep the Kobe/Labron matchup in tact for league television revenues!!!!
i am neutral. with this group i can't remember too many outrageous things, which could be a good thing.
How do people even keep track of who is a good ref and who isn't? Most of the time, it's not even clear which ref made the call.
but some you remember for a long time. e.g., salvatore - "yes! gundy, i CLEARLY saw finley was inbounds when he knocked the ball loose out of jon barry's hand!"
Adelman should have never pulled him out to begin with. You have to keep him out there as long as possible and hope you can keep it close in the 4th.
Agreed. If I've never heard of them, then they're good. These refs are generally nobodies to me (though Wunderlich is noted for his lack of call in the Dallas/Denver game 3), so no worries. I wasn't really worried about the officiating anyway.
In terms of the home team fairing better (statistically speaking) when they are officiating, here's how they stand... Washington #15 out of 61 McCutchen #28 out of 61 Wunderlich #55 out of 61 Average: 32.7 out of 61 For reference, the crews for the past 2 games were... Game 4 (Rockets at home): Average of 27 Game 5 (Lakers at home): Average of 19 So in the last two games the refs were expected (statistically speaking) to favor the home team (and each team won big) but tonight the refs (statistically speaking) are more likely to favor the road team slightly... I'm going to file this under the "not terrible news, but not good news either" category.
What do you think of M. Wunderlich? He blew up 2 big calls alraedy. They're in the sports headlines..
Oh, is that the ref from the Mavs game? I just don't pay attention to this stuff. All I know about officials is that fans hate Violet Palmer because she's a women, Joey Crawford is kind of arrogant, Dick Bavetta got beat by Charles Barkley in a foot race and then kissed him, and Steve Javie is quick to give out technicals. I know nothing else about them.
Take it for what it's worth, but out of 61 officials, she has the highest "homer" rating... Could indicate a tendency to let her emotions get the best of her and make calls based on the situation and crowd more than she should.
