This terrible band had to ruin a great song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hI-0Hgu8mUk Fall out Boy - Beat It
One that has been annoying me recently is that cover of Lil Wayne's "Lollipop". I don't know who covers it but the song is annoying enough without some crappy emo band making it worse.
I think that song improved a hundred times when someone else did it. I could actually hear the words, not just the audio effects. It was amazing!
I was just reading this and the first song that I thought of was the re-make of lollipop. The band is Framing Hanley and IMO its a pretty good re-make! http://musicremedy.com/f/Framing_Hanley/videos/Lollipop-27605.html
yea, I agree. The Framing Hanley version is better! besides.......this isn't recent. This was nearly a year ago. I don't think Framing Hanley is even working together anymore....... slight derail..... two guys from Framing Hanley and the old singer of Evans Blue(Kevin Matysin) started a new band......I think they are pretty dam good. <object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/_qKFtF7H4QE&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/_qKFtF7H4QE&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>
Not really rap, but pretty good nonetheless. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/c745E7T_Wvg&hl=en&fs=1&rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/c745E7T_Wvg&hl=en&fs=1&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Anyone have the opposite? Like a hip hop cover of a rock song? Am I not just talking about sampling. I'm talking a cover of everything including lyrics.

Silverleaf cover of Paul Revere from the Beastie Boys: <iframe scrolling="no" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" frameborder="0" style="width:240px;height:26px;margin:3px;padding:0;border:1px solid #dde5e9;background-color:#ffffff;" src="http://cid-3bd90a2f993a8233.skydrive.live.com/embedrow.aspx/Public%20Music/04%20-%20Paul%20Revere%20%7C5New%20Version%7C6.mp3"></iframe> A friend showed me this a while back. He says Silverleaf used to be a band in Houston.
Just to me, bands covering rap songs now doesnt have the indie edge. But maybe I prefer the irony over the flattery. Darn, so no 2 Live Crew butchered up dirty versions of rock songs?
