Yeah, right, before he won a single ring. You know why you are still a rookie with 2000+ posts? Because you try too hard.

If shaq was injury proned for missing 1 or 2 games during the lock out shortened season, than everybody in the NBA was injury proned that year.

I didn't know that year 4-7 were all lock out seasons in NBA. Thanks for the history lesson though. I understand, that's how "debate" is done here.

Read again YOF. It said the lock out shortened season. Forget it.

What's the use of arguing with a billion YOFs?

Yeah, name calling, another typical "debating strategy" here. You guys were all from the same school.

BTW, you forgot to mention you were a long time Rockets fan and that standard you love Yao line.

Oh shltmeariver, thanks for this post man.. I think Yao will be able to sustain another 5 years in the NBA easy..

This year will be a great intro to the years to come.. and i know you will all bash me, but I hope tmac comes back strong next yr.. plays well, and signs for cheap.. then we can go at someone like Richard Hamilton..

    Imagine that!

I also hope to sign Artest to a 4 year deal.

Sam, I don't know why you are arguing with the lockout season thing. If this season was shortened to 60 games, Yao would have a full healthy season, which would prove you wrong that he had foot injury EVERY year. So what is your point?

The point of this thread is to say Yao Ming is not done yet, He's not necessarily declining now and we shouldn't dump him because of recent injuries.

Although, the injuries Yao has had in the past years are more serious than Shaq's. You cannot just give up on him that easily. That's T-Mac Esque.

All said and done, It's not like he tore his ACL, It's not like he's having microfracture knee surgery either. Ever since Adelman came coaching, Yao's only had stress fractures, under JVG. Most of his injuries occurred as freak accidents from what I remember.

If anybody remembered in the 06-07 season, He had a freak accident with the way his knee landed on Tim Thomas. He was the front runner for MVP until that accident sadly. The season before that I believe somebody mentioned Okur just kicked him or something like that. I think he may have to lose some weights and gain a bit of strength. But I agree, Yao Ming is not declining yet and we shouldn't give up on him.

He's the best center in the NBA, and it's going to remain this way when we win a championship. :D

did u even watch shaq play when he missed those games? he missed them b/c he was lazy, fat, out of shape, and WANTED to sit out. his famous line, "i get hurt during work, i take time off during work."

he is always healthy for the playoffs and ready to beast.

yao, on the other hand, is injured b/c he's injury-prone. there's nothing he can do about it.

    BIG difference.

It's slightly amusing that if the Rockets had lost to the Blazers, people would have thought he made it through the season without injury. Funny how a couple more games changes everything.

The even funnier part would be they would be blaming Yao, instead of blaming Scola the guy they believe led them there. Not Yao.

Sadly, That's how T-Mac fans resort to, to Yao. Denial pills on Yao Ming being the best player on this team when healthy and clearly the best leader. Same thing would have happened to T-Mac to typical NBA fans though, but not to Houston Rocket fans. A typical Rocket fan would say T-Mac led us out, an NBA fan would say Yao led them out. I guess it's all fair, but most people out there in the world say Yao led them out, so I guess it's all good.

We have Tmac and Brooks, that's enough. Trade Yao for Bosh.

If we have Bosh, LBJ or Wade or Kobe will beg to join us in 2010 when we get ride of Tmac's contract.

I say Yao is a good investment down the line, but the Houston fan base not so good...

That's the irony, isn't it. If we lost in the first round, we would have more hope for the future because Yao had finally played through the season and the playoffs without major injuries. Weird.

I have said this before. "Injury-prone" is always hindsight. How do you know when the next injury is going to happen to a player?

As others have mentioned, Shaq has long been known to take regular-season games off but give his best during the playoffs. His reputation that he was built for the postseason was proved time and again.

During years 4 to 7, he did not miss any of his team's playoff games, playing a total of 42. His teams (ORL in year 4, LAL in the rest) went to the conference finals four straight times.

In year 3 with Orlando, when his team lost in the Finals against the Rockets, he played 21 out of his team's 21 postseason games.

In years 8 through 10, he played in all 58 of the Lakers' playoff games, and they won three straight championships as a result.

This is one of the stupidest threads the board has ever seen. Proof that statistics can be a dangerous thing in the hands of someone that doesn't understand them.
