I don't want Yao to leave. He is a fantastic human being, a great competitor, and a fine addition to the team.

But when he leaves, I'll be glad to see all the Yao-only-fans go with him.

Could you explain cuz maybe I am missed a report somewhere?

A hairline fracture is a stress fracture. Same type of fracture. Same foot. Same injury.

Quite a few people in this thread want Yao to leave because they think he deserves a better team or because the fans are disrespecting him. That's what I have addressed.

As for my point about LBJ, Kobe, Wade....I think you missed it. EVERY other person in the NBA is up for debate about staying or leaving. Yao is not untouchable.

As for market value, I am sure he can get a max contract somewhere. Whether it is worth it for the Rockets to lock that money up on an injury prone player is the question.

I personally hope Yao stays a Rocket. But this is not just about what's best for Yao.

Anyone thought about if the Rockets letting Yao go, the team won't make as much profit as now (on par with Lakers / 30m according to another post).

Without those profits being made, will Les make the budget cuts like so many other teams right now? Ex. Spurs, Hornets, etc.

Morey said in an interview that Rocket's budget for next season is going to be around the same as this season. That's a lot better than most of the NBA teams now. Teams are cutting budget to save money.

If the Rockets aren't making good profits, I'm positive that they are one of the budgeting teams. Les ain't Mark Cuban who will spend all the money to win a title.

    Remember how we got Scola?

How many people are saying Yao "deserves" a better team? Maybe 3 or 4? I also criticized the OP for the ridiculous title. But some posters do point out that Yao deserves more appreciation from fans on this board.

I agree that nobody is untouchable except for LeBron and Kobe, and I wouldn't even put Wade in that list, simply because of his injury history at such young age, and the way he plays (very injury prone).

Nowadays you have to pay to get quality, and over-pay in most cases. If you offer him 9 million, you are asking him to leave without getting anything back, I don't think how it would help Rockets. However, if you are assure Yao that you can get 2 all stars back with TMac's salary plus the cut Yao takes, maybe you have a chance, just like Barkley did that for us to get Pippen. But Pippen became Quitten, so there is risk in everything.

The problem I see with Rockets is we don't have clear long term plan. We are always reactive instead of pro-active. We don't appreciate our resources enough, that's why there are so few past great or very good Rockets players are still involved with the organization. If we had kept Dream, and then had him coming off bench, then involved in coaching, and similar things can be done with other guys. Look at Pistons, Lakers, Celtics etc.

We want everything now, but we can never get it now if we don't have a long term plan and stick with it. Once Ralph is not in his prime, we shipped him out. Once Dream started to go down hill, we shipped him out. Once SF3 is no longer the same old explosive one, we got rid of him. Now Yao is injured, we want to get rid of him, BEFORE WE EVEN HAVE A TARGET. Sounds like we are serious about business, but we are not helping with our reputation as a long-term planning, consistent organization. That's the trader mentality instead of investor one. That's hard to attract talents. How is a Yao-less Rockets going to attract Bosh, with less talents than Raptors?

We always complain that the media or the league don't respect our team or players, but how much do we respect our own players?

Well - it's obvious what Les has been in his main capacity: a Wall Street Trader.
I heard earlier a Chinese businessman is buying Cavs. If that is true, I don't think it's crazy if Yao chooses to go to Cleveland.

At best 9M? He was just voted into the 2nd NBA team, for god's sake. Maybe some fans can only see his flaws, focus on his bad games, count his turnovers twice ..... I always think the people who pay Yao most respect are the opponents who actually play against him. They will tell you they don't want to face him, their game plans always focus on countering him, and they feel so relieved to see him out of the game (Most Lakers players didn't even truly show up in game 4 because they're just too relaxed).

A $9M player deserves that attention??

Man asked Kelvin Cato if he deserved that $42 mils contract. Les can sue Cato for some of that money back and give it to Yao.

Many players are overpaid in the league, that's why you see lesser players get so much money, but Morey's smarter than that. He wants the most bang for the buck. I'd imagine Yao would be offered the same contract as the one he's currently on by Morey. He's become better, but has missed more games, so I'd be surprised if Morey would offer any more than his current salary.

If Rockets are able to bring 1-2 Superstar like wade, james, kobe, Yao would work for free, I mean minimum contract-- 5$...

Didn't Morey offered him a MAX contract extension twice last and this season?
And you know what I heard? Yao turned down the offer.

Where did you hear this (Yao turning down the offer)? If he turned down the max, how much is he expecting from Morey? I thought this years max would pretty much be parallel to the max he signed in the past?

We really can't trade Yao without his permission. Any team willing to trade with us will require Yao sign and extension. Nobody will give away a great player just to have Yao for 1 year and then he becomes an unrestricted free agrent. Yao has all the leverage here.
