Well you could make violating the law by employers with their union busting law firms' wink wink consultation much more punitive and costly, but I think employers would actually prefer the EFCA to that!!

Juan Valdez is hopelessly romantic. People are not going to be all nicee nice and non-motional when you are talking about such issues as pay, benefits and getting disciplined etc. You have a tremendous amount of vicious corporate politics even in companies without a whiff of unions or dissent to a paternalistic management that has intimidated anyone from dissenting. These type of issues are actually managed fairly non-contentiously when you have a well bargained for contract spelling out sufficient details with a grievance system.

So completely unbiased, right? What a laugh.

Did he ever say he was unbiased? I think it's better to come out and say where you're coming from rather than hold yourself up to some impossible standard of impartiality. I guess the only unbiased opinions for you come from people you agree with. Now that is a laugh.

I suppose that wouldn't be the first time I've been so accused. I would say it is too easy to be a cynic and too easy to justify one's own bad behavior by appealing to the ugliness of the so-called real world. I suppose I am likewise romantic in opposing torture even if Cheney was right about its effectiveness.

(Btw, I never said I expected anyone to be nice. I just don't want our legislation to be an enabler for bullies, which is what this seems to be.)
