Yes, the guy had an opinion. But the part about "a proper team for him" is what irks Rockets fans. It puts Yao above the rest of the team. I for one second don't believe that Yao is like that, he just wants to play ball. And he doesnt care who is around him as long as they are buying into what the coach wants them to do. Its a shame some who promote him can't have the same attitude. BTW, I did not respond to that thread.
There is no such thing as YOFs or TOFs. I bet all the YOFs and TOFs are still watching Rox and wish they win. So I would say the definition of XX only fan is inaccurate. Rox only fan is more acceptable but except those trolls, who is not ROF?
It's a problem where a fan loves one player and hates the rest of the team. Like, caring more if Yao or T-Mac get 30 points rather than the Rockets getting a win. That is not a Houston Rocket fan. This board isn't the T-Mac stat-padding forum or anything similar.
As a Rockets fan, I could care less if Yao, T-Mac, Scola, and Artest all combine for 0 points on 0/41 shooting as long as the Rockets win.
I don't have any problem with people who like particular player(s) of a certain team, or even fall in love with them, but when you put that individual player(s) success above the team he is playing for, then you are a "XX only fan", which is fine, but just don't call yourself the fan of the team. I read stats somewhere that the Chinese TV viewership for the Rockets games dropped substantially after Yao went out with the injury last year, I would call those absent fans "Yao only fan", but not the Rockets fans. The same thing goes with "TMac only fan", who left watching the Rockets since TMac was out. I met one guy who showed up at our regular pickup game one day, talked about this and that about the Rockets, then I found out this guy has never played any basketball in his whole life, let along any organized basketball games. After that, I stopped discussing anything related to basketball with him. I'm a firm believer one may not know basketball well even if he has played the game before, but you definitely need to play the game, and learn the rule before you can talk about it, there are things that you just cannot get without playing it yourself.
It's been said before and it'll be said again the next time this thread comes up again. As long as you're cool with XX having a bad night or not getting as many touches as you think he should and the Rockets are still winning, you're cool with me.
Not at all, as long as you give the teammates the credit he truly deserves. Example: ItsMyFault is a T-Mac only fan. He keeps on saying Scola has been the MVP this season and was the MVP in the 1st round and now Artest was the MVP in the 2nd round, he even said Artest was the MVP in the 2nd round even before Game 3, before Yao got hurt. As People have been saying, I have no problem if you are a T-Mac or Yao only fan, as long as they know something about the Rockets and give the other Rockets they deserve.
This thread is stupid, you're stupid. Where is all this talk about Alexander not wanting to spend money to win a championship? Since when has this team been under the salary cap? There's nothing wrong with being a fan of a particular player, but this site is called CLUTCHFANS because we are fans of Clutch City, AKA THE HOUSTON ROCKETS. We are fans of the guys on the team because this is our team. Their careers may take them away from here, but we will always be here. So if you come to this forum and start threads where all you talk about is one particular player and wishing he was on another team, that's the kind of BS that gets peoples' blood boiling and calling you a "Dos Equis only fan."
I've read a lot of his posts. They are nothing but defending Tracy or low blows to Yao. It has more than him saying Yao is not MVP. Not to mention he said he started following the Rockets in 2004. Which is the same year T-Mac came to Houston.
As I also said earlier, I have defended T-Mac myself, though not recently, as there is no excuse for his antics at the trade deadline. I also call out Yao when it is warranted. Does that make me a T-Mac only fan???
The only type of xx-only fans hated here are Vince Young Onlies. At least being Yao only or Mac only doesnt leave you cheering against the home team. Its a similar argument when someone made that thread questioning the Red Rowdies.
