Back in 96 when the Rocks traded for CB4 what was the actual trade? I read at NBA.com that Phoenix could convey their first round(25) pick to us. So I guess the trade was: Horry, Cassell, Brown, and Bryant for Barkley and a first round pick. But the question I have is how many years does Phoenix have to give us the pick because it's been 4 drafts(including this years) since the trade. Or is this pick from another trade that slipped my mind? I'm lost on this draft pick, why did nobody remember this pick. It must've been a footnote in the trade because no one has mentioned it.

I saw that too. I can't think of any other trades with the Suns. It has to have been part of the Barkley deal, and it's bound to be getting close to time for them to have to give it up.

By the way, do we really have that number 38 pick? I was under the impression that we didn't have a second round pick this year.

Hmm... I think you just answered my question from another thread on the BBS. Someone posted a message about tie-breakers being settled in this year's lottery. It showed that Phoenix may convey their pick to either us or another team (can't remember who). This may be the draft pick you're talking about.

    Doc:

In Mike Murphy's column (his weekly Rockets report) he made reference to the Suns' #25 being owed to the Magic who in turn may give the Rockets the pick.

Sniff, sniff. I was dreaming of the #13.

Achebe -- that's exactly why we may get that 25th pick from Phoenix -- not via anything in the Barkley trade but rather they owe it to Orlando who could give it to us.

I never understood why the Magic would give us any higher pick when they still have a few years to convey that pick and it doesn't have to be their pick ... they could acquire the last pick of the first round somehow and give us that.

That's why I have a tough time listening to reports saying the Magic may give us one of their lottery picks.... only reason it may make sense is if there is some sort of cap room relief by giving up the higher pick (we all know how they don't want to lose any cap room)....

The year we took Michael Dickerson, did we have three picks in the first round all close together??

We had the 14th, 16th, and 18th picks in that draft. Resulted in us getting Michael Dickerson, Bryce Drew, and Mirsad Turckan respectively with those picks.

Of course the question is WHY... but we've been around the block way too many times on that one... [IMG]

I just consulting my season-ticketolder millenium yearbook that shows all our transactions since the beginning of the franchise, so I get to claim Trivial Pursuit rights here to unrefutable fact based on printed word:

The trade was for a 2nd-rounder in the 1999 draft. woo hoo...tyrone washington.

Can I officially close this thread...sorry to be rude but we have MANY more trade scenarios to go through before the draft party.

Let's see: there's roughly 350 nba players and we can trade any combination of 12 players. isn't that something approaching

(350! / 12!) more trade threads we need to have, minus 1,043 trade threads we've had so far...guys, we've got a long way to go. Gotta move them in and move them out quickly.

Traj-yes. The way it went down, is we conveyed Vancouver's 2nd rounder (owed to us from the Sam Mack trade) to Chicago, fulfilling the other part of the Pippen deal, and keeping our own. Chicago has 3 STRAIGHT 2nd rounders.
