By allowing two consenting adults to marry who they want isn't codifying anything into law. Allowing some pairs of consenting adults to marry, while denying others based on who they are is codifying one set of beliefs into law. It same sex marriage is legal, not one person who disagrees with it has to enter into a same sex marriage. They can still marry whoever they would like.
so, by your logic and definition, one could marry his sister.....or his brother. Two consenting adults. what part of this equation do you not understand? homosexual does not equal heterosexual. It's not the same thing. Quit trying to tell me this spade is a club. IT'S NOT.

I'm not saying they are the same. But you quit trying to tell me that one is deserving of special benefits placed on it by the government while one isn't just because you don't like one. Your personal dislike of a way of life doesn't give you the right to restrict it. Nobody is petitioning to marry their sibling. Given the health problems involved there are other reasons to deny incest as a legal marriage. Why are you trying to equate homosexual marriage to incest?
Just curious If you don't care what one set of CONSENTING ADULTS DO why do you care about what another set does? I mean . . considering they CONSENTING ADULTS Where exactly do you draw the line on what CONSENTING ADULTS can and can not do in the privacy of their own bedroom? It isn't just about allowing consenting adults to do what they want. It's about laws that let one couple enter into a recognized family, but forbid another couple from doing the same based on nothing other than who those people are. There is no law that let's group of adults enter into a recognized family, but not another group of adults so it isn't the same discrimination. But along the note, if you are going to act like homosexual marriage is bad because it might lead to polygamy, then please show why polygamy is bad.
And I suggest you try to figure out on your own why this reinforces my analogy. Let me know if you need a hint and I might put my superior logical capacity at your disposal.
The difference is there may be a secular reason for prohibiting incest and polygamy that does not apply to gay marriage.

When it infringes on the life, liberty, or pursuit of happiness of another person. For example, polygamy usually leads to systemic injustice against the women involved. Ergo, it was banned. (Edit: as an aside I'd argue this may be antiquated now to a certain extent) Similarly, incest is legitimately prohibited because it can (will) cause pain on any child concieved from such a union.
It is obvious to me that you lack either the will or the ability to understand the arguments of those with whom you disagree. Sad.
