Im not convinced that Shaq would destroy Ming's confidence...I dont know much about the chinesse, but I do know that they teach them very young to have a humble confidence in themselves. Shaq may destroy him, but I believe Ming wouldnt stop, maybe I have seen too many Ninja movies uh
Shaq is going to ruin him. The game is all about confidence thats why Kobe excels. Ming will be overwhelmed you wait and see. u851662, there are some people who will lose confidence after being humiliated and there are those who use it for motivation to get better. I believe Yao would be the latter. Since he was 16, he was being humilated by the likes of Wang Zhi Zhi, but the didn't quit, and eventually surpassed wang. You want humiliation, try not being able to inbound the ball, yes, inbound the ball for nearly seven plays, that what the chinese nationals team did in the olympics against the United States. Yet yao was still able to recompose himself and even block carter that game. And now he's challenging the NBA. If this game is all about mental abilities, then i say ming would be a great choice.
What, besides leading them to a 45 win season in his second year? You can say, "Oh, but they didn't still didn't make the playoffs." Well I got news for you, they weren't supposed to make the playoffs! And they definitely weren't supposed to win 45 games that year. Man, how quickly we forget. Don't use this past season to completely judge Francis' game.
Smits and Sabonis retired because of Shaq...ooookay. Whatever you say, dude. And Webber was forced to guard Shaq because Vlade fouled out and Pollard was getting absolutely creamed. So there's two statements you made that are very questionable, which doesn't really give you too much credibiltiy with your comments on Mobley. Cuttino is a very talented player. What were his numbers the second half of the season? 24.5 ppg on 46% field-goal percentage? You know who else puts up those kinds of offensive numbers? Paul Pierce, Tracy McGrady, Kobe Bryant to name a few. You wanna know what else? Mobley gets paid half of what those guys make. And you want to trade that? That's probably the best ratio of production to salary in the NBA, besides some players who are still on their rookie contracts. Granted, Mobley does have a lot of work to do in areas like defense and decision making. His 3-point shooting has improved drastically, and I believe his all-around offensive game keeps improving too...and I don't think he's done yet. Oh, and by the way, Mobley only shoots 18 times per game. You were only 22 shots off. On a healthy team he only shoots about 15 times per game, but when 3 of the only five players on your team who can score are out for the all or most of the season, you're forced to take more shots than you normally would. Its obvious you have a grudge against Cuttino, which is fine. But to simply say "he is not good" makes me wonder how well you evaluate basketball talent.
Okay let me break it down for you, seeing as I do play ball and like to think I understand a little it of the game. Mobley has talent yes... What Mobley does not Possess is TEAM TALENT. He has 4 other men on the court but he only person he can seem to pass it to is Steve. Granted Steve is our franchise player and I love his game. Its just funny to me how after every game I hear we are one of the most talented?? WTF?? Most talented? New Jersey has been Talented for years but they finally got themselves a team player in JASON KIDD who could get them over that hump. Mobley is a hell of a one on one player - similar to Stephon Marbury NO? Does Stephon take his team to the playoffs and win? was he able to help the Nets win more often in the past? No, he has mad game but he has playground game. You ever notice how when someone scores on Mobley how he gets the ball and tries to return the favor, one-on-one? Thats childish street ball. Sorry "DUDE" this is the NBA and what I thought Jason Kidd taught everyone this year with his play is their is more to this game than just scoring. Talented players score points great players win games. As for the Webber comment, Thats another point I would have to break down to you when I get more time.
Some of you guys make me so sick!!! You are NOT ROCKET FANS AT ALL!! The Rockets had a bad season last year because of INJURIES, that's it.........INJURIES!!!!!! Mobley and Steve took a lot of shots last year and can anyone tell me why? Some of you idiots would answer the question saying something about SELFISHNESS....I'd bet my life on it. Well here is a thought for the DUMB BUTTS on this site that don't know a thing about basketball. If half of the team is hurt, ( your starting PF and SF) then who in the hell are you going to pass it to? If Mobley didn't make shots last year, we would not have been in some of those games we lost by 7 or less. The isolation plays are what Rudy called or wanted half the time because he didn't have a team on the court that could run his so called "motion offense". Now the off season is opon us and Cat makes a comment about wanting a proven player and people go nuts! He needs a attention? Steve and Cuttino aren't considered one of the best backcourts? Someone needs to be traded? That's why Houston fans are regarded as BANDWAGON fans and it fits to a "T". Personally, I would be happy with or without Ming and yes he does have to PROVE himself. Just because he's drafted #1 doesn't mean he's the franchise! How quickly you fools forget about the ones that sacrifice for your our team, you toss them to the side soon as they get an injury or grow old. It really turns my stomach to read some of the post above. Some of you really need to start supporting your team at ALL TIMES.
Jason Kidd is a point guard...Mobley is a shooting guard. Mobley's job is to score. Kidd's job is to get teammates to score. I don't see how the comparison works very well. They're two different players with different talents. Kidd's game is definitely more conducive to making his teammates better. That's his job! Yes, it would be nice if Mobley could create better for teammates, but it is not neccesary for the role he plays on team. Hell, it would be nice if every player on the Rockets could be as good as Jason Kidd, buts that's being unrealistic. Besides, let's be honest. Magic Johnson in his prime couldn't have created for some of the players we put on the floor this season. And despite what you may think, Mobley happens to do his primary job (scoring) very well. And as for New Jersey they've had talent for years, but it's been injured talent. Also, let's not forget they are in the east, which equals about seventh in the west...which just so happens to be where Kidd got the Suns in the 2000/2001 season.
If Cat and Steve had opinions I sure do wish they would have kept them private and talked to Rudy privately instead of Cat going on national television and saying both he and Steve would rather trade Ming for Odom. I mean, I'm sure those comments make Odom feel fantatsic that he's liked and wanted by Steve and Cat, but somehow I don't think they're going to make Ming feel quite as good. Cat should have kept his mouth shut. If he likes Odom and someone asked him about the posibility of getting Odom, then Cat should talk about what good qualities Odom brings to the team. Under no circumstance should he, or any other player, suggest any trade scenarios on national television. Not only does it alienate the teamates that you want to trade, it hurts your teams bargaining power during trade talks.
I'm wondering, if you are jealous of Francis and Mobley, and they are punks...what does that make you...Shandon Anderson or the ball boy???
LOL! Some of you guys are in for a rude awakening... Cutino is nothing more than a sixth man. Steve will get better and be one of the best. As for the excuse of the team was hurt thats all it is is an excuse. I am not saying they should have made the playoffs, Im saying they should have been 15 games better than what they were last year thats all. We'll see after next season what excuse Rockets fans and the Rockets are able to come up with....
admit it, you're jealous of Cuttino and Francis and if you could be their ball boy, you'd do it. Go get that ball...boy! "Where...oh...OK"
I don't think 15 games better is realistic for this team even if it was healthy. You are talking about a 60 win season. Are you saying this team would have been better than the Spurs and the Mavs if they were healthy? The Lakers didn't win 60 games, are you saying that this team is better than the defending champs? If we won 15 more games, we would have been the 2nd seed in the West. Did you think this through because you must think the rest of the league is awesome if we could have won 15 more games to get 60 and still not make the playoffs. Look, in an 82 game season, 15 more wins is a tall order, especially when this team didn't make a drastic roster change like bringing in an allstar this past offseason.
Rocket fans pre and post winning the lottery: Pre: 1) Steve Francis is going to represent the Rockets at the lottery - awesome!! 2) Steve wants to sign a contract extension - is going to be a Rocket for life - awesome!!! Post: 1) Steve is a jealous mental case - trade him for Andre Miller 2) Steve is not a team player - trade him for Jason Williams 3) Steve needs to grow and shut up 4) Whats up with him and Cat? Kind of funny.....
What are you talking about man the rockets only won 28 games 15 games would have put them at 43 - where are you getting 60 games from?
<b>u85259024534</b> He's simply exaggerating like you did when you said Mobley shoots 40 times. Remember this: "<i>If you shot the ball 40 times in a game, hey it has to land somewhere.</i>" Making points based on exaggeration kinda makes no point, don't you think? Like your other point about one-on-one players and playground ball, and you seem to leave Francis out of that...and his propensity to slip while trying to take his man, and blow off picks from Griffin to go baseline or to scream down the weakside lane to throw up his 10' runner hoping for a foul. You can't compare Mobley to Marbury without comparing Francis to him. You see; you believe in Francis and have faith he will start playing team ball. Others feel the same way about Mobley, and still others feel the same way about both. The arguments you make are widely accepted on this board. Stick around, and you'll see. You will also see that you can make those points better. You are a broken record around these parts when you exaggerate like that. <b>BubbaMac,</b> That is SOOOO true!!!
- ROFLMAO - about - u85259024534 - How you gonna just mess my name up like that LOL!. Its cool. And I hear what your saying i've been watching these boards for a couple years now and have had several different names. I always change email address's and forget my login passwords anyhow. Francis has natural skill, he is one of those type players that doesnt have to practice as much as others to do some of the stuff we see him do. Cutino wants to be that but he is an over achiever a sixth man. Like I said before most of ya'll will see what I am talkin bout in the future, when the so called potential ya'll see is never full-filled. Let me ask a question who would you rather take the last shot, Cutino or Moochie? Just a question?
Heypartner, Just curious, do have a job? With over 9000 posts it would seem that all you do is post on here. That's a helluva lot of posts man!!
