I've been wondering about this as well... I mean he should at least have a 5 foot jump shot that he can shoot with high percentage... I know he is a hard worker so he needs to pratice this during the off season.... shoot like 1000 to 2000 jump shots a day...
He probably shoots a 5 foot jump shot as well as 98% of the people on this board. Doing so against NBA competition, against players much taller and more athletic than him, is a different thing altogether. The NBA is the best of the best, and Chuck isn't an NBA caliber scorer. He's in the league for the things he does well, and he happens to do those things very well.
Did you ever see Dennis Rodman play? Talk about an offensive liability! Yet, he was a terror on the boards and a great defender. The teams he played for, and his fans (weird as they may have been) didn't come to see him shootother than the ocassional slam dunk.
He does glue things on offense (passing, picks, off rebs, spacial awareness). Not all players are capable of those things. His shot needs work, but it is getting better. He has over-thought free throws and got into some bad habits with his free throws. My advice to him is to go with a jumper. His 5-foot jumper has decent form and accuracy...he just needs to attempt is from further out.
Didn't an article say that Chuck is actually a good shooter in practice. But with the pressure of a game and defenders, its a completely different shot. I say for Chuck it's more mental than anything. For example, when he gets the ball around the rim, he just throws it up like it's a grenade, but when you look at the video of him in Kentucky, you can tell he can have a good offensive moments, he just smart enough to know that in the NBA, others are a better option. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/F4bp335HkPg&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/F4bp335HkPg&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
He's too damn short at 6'6", you can't expect someone like him to develop an offensive game. However, he should've been able to make free throws by now.
Besides a few star players, most players in the NBA are specialists. They are molded into their role. Chuck is very specialised in defense. On his way to there he's lost whatever offense skill he once had.
who cares...does ben wallace??? does samuel dalembert??? does tyson chandler??? lets just talk about his freethrow shooting haha CHUCCCCCKKK SHOOOOTTTTING FREE THRWWWWWSSSSSSS
