i loved the movie! bought it on DVD a long time ago... but i don't understand why ethan hawke was nominated for an oscar for his role, it didn't seem all that spectacular to me (esp. compared to denzel's!)
I really liked that movie. My girlfriend and I rented it this weekend and I have to say, it was not what I expected(since I didn't really know anything about it).
I liked it also, but thought it was overrated. I loved the deleted scenes where he was talking his spainish to those he was trying to mack on. Classic, they shouldve left that in the movie.
if this is the one where he goes "yo mamacita, mamacita ..... you're under arrest girl. i'ma have to spank ya" then yeah, i agree. my favourite part too.
Did NOT like it. It had its moments, but generally I thought it was well made but unrealistic load of garbage.
I thought it was pretty good. I hate that the Oscars are given out every year, even if there aren't any movies/actors that deserve the awards, last year was not the best year for movies.
I loved the first half of the movie, but the second half was, as somebody put, totally unrealistic...I think it would have been a much more powerful movie if they capped Hawke in the bathtub. It was a major reach to connect the coincidence of him saving the girl and them deciding to to spare him. And all the fellas in the hood calling Hawke "homey"...another part that made me roll my eyes.
