Probably not the smartest comment by Shane - we all know Kobe will print that quote out, laminate it, post it on his fridge, bathroom wall, shower and gym so he can feed off of that. I'm not a Kobe fan, but saying things like that is playing with fire.

I was hoping Shane would bust out a "You can't guard me!" but I guess it's best to let sleeping dogs lie.

There is a catch with championship teams' PGs average assist numbers, that every one of those teams had at least 1 guy averaging over 5 assists/ game, and at least 3 guys who average more than 3 assists per game. That's the hallmark of a championship caliber team. The rockets don't have that balance, so they need someone who can dish out assists like Nash and Stockton just to get to the conference finals.

The atmosphere at the game was electric. Great game.

I hope we put Chuck in a hyperbaric chamber all the way up till game time.

Pau Gasol had about the weakest quietest 30 points I think I have ever seen.

Oh wait, he had 18 of it after the Lakers were down by 29.

If Kobe had anything left after being embarrassed this game and coming back home for a must win game 5 then he is not as good as we all thought.

I understand, but adelman wants a team that doesnt want 1 guy or 2 guys to have to be the burden of the whole offense. Early in the playoffs when someone asked him about yao's touches, he said he's not about getting guys touches, they just scored over 100 pts and shot over 50%. I never thought yao was a bell cow in any offense. I just think he's a reall effecient player when conditions are right. so to balance that out along with 2 guys (battier and scola) that depend heavily on yao getting doubled, adelman knows he needs brooks the scorer. Even with Mcgrady he needs brooks the scorer because mcgrady is the pg. Brooks is really no different than Yao in that when their decisive and aggressive, they're really good, but when they think about diffeent scenerios and analyze, their not nearly as effective. i still think you can win a title with yao, but yao cant be the end all be all to determine if you win or not. I say this because he cant sustain long periods of dominance in games. If you want to be a bell cow, in the playoffs, there will be games when you have to play at a high level for 40 mins maybe longer. I dnt care how deep your bench is, there will be games when the best players need to play 40+ mins. I dont think yao can do it. Its not really his fault, but he just cant. You've followed basketball long enough and i know you can recall those 42 minute games dream used to put up in the playoffs and he still dominated start to finish. If you told me yao could do that, i would jump for joy, but we both know in a 48 minute game, yao can play at a high level for 27-30 mins.

So do you think its easier to find that pie in the sky stocton and nash type or finding guys that can run a system and share the ball for 3 asst each? How many titles do stockton and nash have? Thanks

I am beginning to think this Rockets lineup might be better without Yao. Why do i say this?? Well...do you remember game #2? When Rockets were down by 15pts in LA with Yao sitting and the bench came roaring back and even taking 3pts lead at Half??

With Yao playing, they're going to limit him by fronting anyway...so he's not going to help much. But defensively, YES Yao help by altering shots and any layups inside. But there is a benefit to having Chuck in there. With Chuck, the pick and roll with Kobe is much easier to defend than with Yao. With Chuck, he can at least guard Gasol. Of course, Yao can guard him too...but Chuck is also very good. So what i am saying is that this team has been putting up numbers without Yao throughout the series.

I agree. This squad is made for Adelman's style.

I like to see Scola fronting Gasol. Chuck was killing him on the boards.

It was good to see Artest defer to the team for most of the game. My biggest fear before this game was that he would try to take the team on his shoulders.

Aaron Brooks was great. He was aggressive and confindent, something he was not during the playoff losses so far.

Kobe looked stunned most of the game. I think he felt let down by his own team and couldn't recover emotionally.

You can bet Lakers will be breaking down this game and making some major adjustments.

    Rockets in 6.

What a win... OMG.. I'm so happy right now, I was down last night about Yao. It's like the sun ripped through the dark clouds of the storm that came in last night. Great job by the PGs.. the real winner of this game though, CHUCK HAYES. Chuck Hayes is so underrated... he almost reminds me of Ben Wallace on post defense, he does such a great job, nobody knows how good he is, now I know why Miranda loves him so much. :D

The Lakers were surprised by the complete change in style - but Phil Jackson won't be in game 5, he already showed he made adjustments by the 4th qtr.

    Adelman must re-adjust.
