Well. Not totally unexpected - JVG mentioned he had seen "that look" on Yao's face a few times before ... so it's no surprise now.

The series is not done yet though. Got to fight the fight first.

We really need some C's on the roster next season though.

Don't have to worry about that.

We have our very own version of Rik Smit. He constantly had foot problems.

    unbelievable...

honestly, as much as I like Yao, they need to trade him. The guy has too much wear & tear on him. He's not built to play through an entire season, let alone the highly competitive playoff atmosphere.

If the Rockets ever want to get deeper into the playoffs, they must get rid of Yao.

It's time to start looking in a different direction for the future. That doesn't mean we need to trade Yao Ming, but I don't think we can build around him. He can be a very good role player, but not a franchise player/max contract player. Every year we Rockets fans believe that if we stay healthy we can be a dark horse for the championship, and for the past several years we've been disappointed.

For those that are thinking we need to decrease Yao's minutes - I agree but this is precisely why we can't build around him. Let's suppose we find a quality backup so Yao can play less than 30 minutes a game. That's great and hopefully will prolong his career, but at that point he's not the franchise any more. He's never going to have a true off season to rest because of his duties and loyalty to the Chinese National Team. When Yao went down last year you could tell he was disappointed that he couldn't help the Rockets in the playoffs, but it seemed he was more worried about playing in the Olympics. His loyalty will always be to the Chinese National Team first over playing in the NBA.

On that note, I just hope the team continues to play hard and leaves it all out on the court against the Lakers.

Bear with it. If you can't take this, stop watching Rockets' games.

Yao needs to make a choice. Semi-retire from international basketball or retire from te NBA.

I'm surprised he lasted as long as he did given he's had no significant down time for two years for the injuries he's had. He's played from last season, surgery, rehab, Olympics, straight to this season.

the rockets are fine because when we made that huge run in game 2 yao was on the bench...they should start lowry and move ron to the 4 and scola to the 5

if he keeps playing on it, he WILL need another surgery. his career then would probably be over then.

so no, he needs to rest and get ready for next season.

    *Sigh* Same **** different year.

Feel bad for the big guy, he's worked his ass off only to get injured in the playoffs. Good luck Yao.

Some of you are clueless. So because we went on a run in Game 2 without Yao we are fine without Yao now?

If Yao went down early this season we wouldn't even be in the damn playoffs.

I think i know why Yao fracture his foot. It's Tmac!! Did you see him show up for the first time last night?? Man...as soon as he show up...BAM, Yao got a hairline fracture. And this never happened UNTIL HE SHOWS UP!! What does this tell you about Tmac?? Dude is ****ing cursed!! I told ya'll don't let Tmac sit on the BENCH!! Goddamm it ..you guys just don't listen to me. Tmac is the reason this team has injured curse.

He doesn't want the team to advance without him. So what does he do?? Show up and put a curse on the team. Not only they lost game, now they lost Yao too. **** Tmac!

    Houston has some pathetic fans.

And, where's all those genius saying that playing heavy minutes consecutively won't be a problem?

It is undoubtedly very sad and worrisome. I admit I haven't seen all the posts in this thread so I'm going to ask, have the doctors told long will it take for him to recover?
