Yao Ming broke his foot again and STILL stayed in th game for 2.5 more quarters

If that's not guts, then I dont know what is. He REFUSED medical treatment and REFUSED to let Adleman sub him out until a minute was left in the game. This guy gives it his all for this team and I think we deserves out undying respect and gratitude.

This guy is a TRU WARIER. He took us out of round 1 and broke the curse. He carried this team on his back this entire season and never complained a single time about minutes or pain. Any franchise would be lucky to have him as a player.

I can't believe some of the threads I'm seeing here tonight. What's wrong with some of the members here at Clutchfans? I'm overcome with disillusionment and disgust by the reaction of certain people here. I feel really bad for Yao Ming because he truly wanted this team to succeed (and it HAS for that matter). You people, and you know who you are, should be ashame of yourselves for your selfishness and flakiness.

If anything, we made one last run with this team next year. Get a healthy Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady back by the playoffs next season. Resign Ron Artest (the original TRU WARIER) this summer. Make one last GIANT push for a championship before the summer of 2010. I have faith in this team and its toughness. What we have seen this season is a championship team in the making.

Come back even stronger next season, big fella. At least there will be more no summer basketball obligations for China this off season, Mr. Ming. No matter what happens from now on, you will always have my undying loyalty and respect. HOUSTON ROCKETS FOR THE CHIP IN 09-10!!!

We need to steal the trainers from Phoenix, they did wonders with Shaq and Grant Hill. They would do wonders for Yao and T-Mac.

Has Big Z been able to play through several seasons without major breaks? Maybe we should learn something from the Cavs. I think the key is to find a backup C and play Yao less minutes in the regular season.

    Rockets > any individual player

For all the great things Yao does to help the franchise, he also severely hurts it when he gets injured. I understand being loyal, but at what point does loyalty begin to hurt the team?

If Yao can't be healthy in the playoffs, then what he does in the regular season doesn't matter. If he can't play in the playoffs, he can't help you win a championship. A player who consistently gets injured and isn't available when you need him becomes a liability. You use a large chunk of cap space to give him a good contract. You make him the focal point of the offense. And when he inevitably goes down you're screwed because you've made him the franchise player and nobody else can step up and fill his shoes.

It'd be great if you could be loyal to a guy like that and surround him with enough talent so that his absense wouldn't hurt all that much. But it doesn't work that way. Sometimes you have to sacrifice loyalty if the ultimate goal is winning.

The Rockets have shown they're not afraid to move on when the situation calls for it. We all loved Steve Francis but we knew trading him for TMAC made us a better team. We traded away Hakeem, the greatest player in the history of the franchise, when it became apparent that he was no longer productive.

So, if it's determined that Yao and his injuries ultimately hurt the team and preclude us from winning in the playoffs, then you have to move on. Now, it's up to debate whether Yao has become a liability or not.

If he's healthy, he's obviously an asset. But the problem is that his health concerns can no longer be chalked up to bad luck. It is now a trend. And if Yao can't stay healthy, he's a liability because the player the franchise was built around is no longer on the court.

I am a fan. And because I'm a fan, the success of the Rockets comes first. I wish Steve still had game and could have found a place here. I wish Rafer could have hit floaters and 3 pointers. I wish Ron would play smarter. I wish Brooks was more consistent. I wish Deke never got hurt. I wish TMAC could have stayed healthy. And I wish Yao could have too. But above all else, I wish that the Rockets were successful. I wish that the Rockets win another championship. And if that means that you have to put loyalty aside and cut ties with a great player that has become a liability, then so be it.

Whatever helps the Rockets win, that's what I want. If it means Yao has to go, fine. If it means that Yao stays, great. But my opinion, just because it may differ from yours, doesn't change what kind of fan I am. I am a fan regardless.

You know some of the fans reaction partly reflected why rockets suck ass so long. I am sure some front office guys have the same feels. Just a bunch of bandwagon idiots.

Grant Hill got healthy again as a Magic. He came back as an All Star in his last season there.

Shaq's foot problems are known to be phantom injuries whenever he's upset with the coaching staff or management.

    What about Amare?

Yao can be a great role player, but bottom line is we can't build the franchise around him.

Hmm not really. After that all-star season, he got hurt again, I believe, but then the year after that he was healthy again kind of.

The fact that Amare already went through Micro-fracture knee surgery and still an all-star goes to show you good their trainers are.

no, you're a bandwagoner. to even suggest trading a player wearing rocket red is high treason. the council will meet soon to discuss how you will be punished.

obviously kidding. i've been rooting for the rockets since before many of the people here could stand up while they pee. give me a freaking break.

We still have enough bullets to win. The team just has to believe. Scola, Landry, & Artest still make a formidable frontline with Hayes coming off the bench. Our cover defense will be even better as we can switch everything. We can consistently go through the post now without worry of fronting as Artest & Scola are more sure handed.

I agree with you on this one. I think we should fire our medical staff.

Yao is a warrior. I do not think there was ever any question about that.
The truth of the matter is that the guy is just injury prone and true enough he plays too many minutes for a guy his size, but this injury thing is getting old between Mcgrady and Yao. We cannot have two stars that are injury prone every year. I'm glad we kept Dorsey on the roster he is going to be a beast next season I think. It's sad Deek went down, this probably would have never taken place.

I think we need to augment the medical team with other specialties...Maybe a science team to study the forces on Yao's body...
