    Found this on rotoworld:

This ruins the Rockets' hopes of upsetting the Lakers, but at least Yao won't need surgery; he will immobilize the foot in a walking boot and rehab for eight-to-12 weeks.

Yao could probably play 82 games if he wasn't playing in China every offseason.

I feel bad for him......he probably wants to rep his country, but still rep his Rockets. It's pretty obvious he can't do both and the damage has been done, he's never gonna be a reliable horse. Such a shame....he's so fun to watch.

    Best of luck Yao.....

You forget...Yao WANTS to play for China. He's very loyal and if he has to choose between the two..he would choose China. He took more pride playing for China in the Olympics than anything else. Why do you think he shut it down early last season? To get ready for the Olympics.

Shame on you ,some of the fans. Several days ago, you post him as a hero. Now you want to trade your hero. How could you image that he is the one who bring the team to semi finial without 20 million
Do you think Laker can beat us without KOBE?
    Shame on you.

    So depressing :(

I thought he finally turned the corner this season with injuries, but now it looks like he's been playing through pain throughout the season. Watching vids of Yao from a few seasons ago, he's really lost a lot of foot speed, and he wasn't fast to begin with. His body just can't make it through 80+ games. Every season expecting him to be healthy is a big gamble :(

There is no big man playing harder and longer minutes than Yao. Coach has undeniable responsibility for this injury.

    I'm heartbroken.

The Chinese education has it that a true warrior can't withdraw from the front line despite a slight injury which is obviously deep rooted in Yao's mind. I can't believe the giant has been playing the whole season with that dysfunctional ankle. That man is a true leader lifting the whole team on his shoulder and bear all the blames for losing every single game. He is a true warrior who refused to go to the locker room and clinched the game in the end. He gave us hope that with him on the court we can have however slim the chance to beat LA.

However, he should learn how to let it go, to rest when feeling uncomfortable. He is so nice a person not deserving the rest of his life on a wheelchair.

Damn it. I hope one season and playoff run that the team can catch a break and stay healthy. Can Dorsey be activated for the playoffs or is still injured?

He's already playing 33 minutes a game, even with a backup he is till going to play around that amount. Do you expect him to play just 25 minutes or something; that's half a game. It's not Yao's fault, but the reality is he will be injury prone due to his body.

Everytime we have a glimmer of hope.....BAM!! Someone kicks us in the nuts. I mean, this is just getting ridiculous.

I love Yao, and he really showed his heart during the playoffs. But his body just can't take playing an 82+ game season in the NBA AND for the National Team in China every year. I mean, that would wear out even the best athletes....something he clearly isn't.

I really don't blame him. Sometimes you just can't help what happens to your body, and I'm sure no one is more upset than he is. But I really think we've seen the best that he can do for us. I think it's time to admit that this experiment hasn't worked out and we need to start over. Dang....can't even believe I'm saying that, but it's true.

I think that's why he didn't sit down, he knew that was the end of his playoffs.

No need to panic, he's been getting better after 3 rough years and there are big men who have had very long careers after a plethora of foot issues (Big Z). He just needs to limit his minutes in the regular season (which he did this year), and take it easy during the summer (which he will now likely do). The Rockets and Yao aren't going to give up, he was built to play this game and he's going to squeeze every last ounce out of it. And it's going to taste that much sweeter when he finally does succeed.

    I love you Yao!

Is this a "stress fracture" like last season? Or did it happen in a freak moment during game 3?
