Even the translation is right, don't believe all the words these media say. I'm sick of seeing many fake news or sayings made by majority of Chinese media especially the webs. That's not bias or something, I say it because I used to see lot of inexact information. So lets see it optimistically.

lol... when yao says yall admire his toughness and how he kept it quiet...when tmac does it you say its a ploy and hes cheating his fans... at least be consistent...

sounds like an excuse to me. When shaq got sent out the past few years i didn't hear him say, "well actually i have this thing with my back" I never heard hakeem say things in his prime either.

This whole nba culture makes me sick... it barely motivates me to be a fan anymore, between these ridiculous "flagrant" calls to clean up the game, to a host of vagina players making excuses.

I realize its hard for Yao to play 82 games because his size, and like someone said a backup center would really help. We never used Deke to spell yao, we need a guy that adelman will actually use.

Yao Ming doesn't make excuses. He didn't in 06-07 Utah Jazz Series so why would he start now? First of all there is always a 'lost in translation' factor in all these articles. You don't know whether the interview was done in Chinese and translated to English or it was done in English and then translated to Chinese and then to English again.

The only thing we can get out of his comment is that it is a clarification that explains he's been dealing with something all season. But the choice of words "all season" or in this case "whole season" shouldn't be taken literally. I think he's just saying it's given him problems here and there (missing games, bone bruise) during the course of a season.

And then you have the factor of Yao's english as his second language where he keeps calling the area of concern different names:

...Yao turned his left ankle (he called it his ankle, foot and leg, but it is on the top of his foot below the calf; call it what you will) in the second quarter and finished the game limping. He will have a precautionary CAT scan today, and though his condition is not considered serious - he played 40 minutes and did not leave the game until the last minute - he does not have much time to get better...

Hope the tests come back with good news and the day off helps because he wants to play and I think it will kill him to not battle with his teammates on Sunday. Plus the team needs him.

C'mon don't be that biased. It is understandable that the media may exaggerate the fact a little bit for the clicks.

I quote what I said in the Yao Injured thread here

    [rQUOTEr]http://sports.sohu.com/20090509/n263862629.shtml

ZhangYi of sohu.com reported in the above article that Yao doesn't look good in the locker room. He grimaced when he soaked his legs into the ice water and he shout out loud when he sit down after the bath.

But I disagree with a part ZhangYi reported, where Yao answered a question about the history of his left ankle. ZhangYi wrote in the article that Yao replied that he was playing with that injured ankle whole season but I believe Yao was saying that he had hurt that ankle before (a straight answer to the original question since he was asked if that ankle was hurt/sprained before) then follow up saying that he had played with that ankle for whole season but has not had any problem with it.[/rQUOTEr]

Watch Yao's press conference yourself, then determine if ZhangYi got it wrong as I said.

I'm the no excuses kind of fan. If you can play then play, if you can't then go sit down. There are no excuses in the playoffs.

Some of you act like Yao is the only player in the history of basketball who ever played through a bruised a knee or had a sore ankle. My god. Hell some of once saw Isiah Thomas score 40 points on one ankle during a Finals game and he didn't do it against any chump Lakers team like this one, he did it against the Showtime Lakers. That's playoff basketball.

just face it, yao is almost 30. around this age, no center in the world can play without injury. plus, yao is one of the most injury-prone centers.

what he should do is wear pads and stuff, armed to teeth, and play less in regular season, and stop playing for china.

People keep asking why does this happen to YAO???

The answer is really simple- his 300 lbs frame never gets good rest over the summer. Its a fairly obvious trend.

PLEASE just let him sit out the summer. He helped them achieve mediocrity in the Olympic games in Bejing, now let him be. I can't believe this goes on every year. Yao- if you ever want to succeed on the biggest stage, time to take off the yellow and red, and stick with the red and silver.
