    Jan/13/09 vs Lakers

    Von Wafer starts...

    39:06 min.
    23pts

    Kobe only had 33pts.

    Jan/21/09 vs Utah

    Von wafer starts....

    33:12
    21pts.

He wants to start, he has to start in the to get the rhythm
    ( his words).

Kobe is scoring at will with Battier, Von has the same speed as kobe, not battier. Artest can not keep up with kobe in the perimeter.

battier only scored 6 pts tonight.

imaging how much points Von will have if he plays the amount of minutes that Battier played.

I like Battier, but we NEED offense from him more, and not just defense.

so whats better kobe still getin over 30pts. on battier with battier's 6pts

    or

kobe still getting over 30 pts and von with 20+ pts?

....this all coming from my little brother...and im starting to agree with this theory.

    are you serious?

kobe, with his eyes closed, will score 60 or more every game with wafer guarding him fukk time.

Are you serious??? Have you seen Wafer on Kobe?? Why do you think he had that tantrum the last game? Because Kobe was burning him so Adelman needed Ron/shane back in to defend him. I'm sure Wafer would get 20 pts if he started and got 30+ mins, but i'm also sure Kobe would get 50, including 20 free throws.

ron would still be in, but VON did put kobe in check when is is defending him. i seen him in the game when he started against the lakers. he was on kobe for a few minutes and kobe never scored. I just thinking von needs to get put in early and play over 30 mins a game

    No disrspect.

If Von starts, he's going to tear it up and score probably 25-30 points.

But at the same time, Kobe's going to drop 82 points on the Rockets.

I like Von's offense but his defense is pretty horrible and I can't see him guarding the Rockets killer. No thankyou.

No disrespect. But Wafer is not going to score 25-30 points against Lakers.

He's shooting 31% in three games against Lakers.

Does Wafer even have a defensive stance?

no disrespect, its just a thought. still think he needs to be way more then he is given. I have no idea what Rick is thinking while we struggle.

You know what, I agree with you. Wafer is way more athletic than Battier and can physically bother kobe more. Battier would need to advise Wafer of Kobe's tendency and not to foul him. Wafer is quicker and physically better than Battier. Battier is a smarter player and will need to teach Wafer how to defend kobe.

Battier did very well in game one, but Kobe has adjusted to his defense. Rockets needs to give Kobe a different look with Wafer defending him. Wafer needs to know not to foul him. At this point, playing Battier against Kobe can not be any worst.

I don't know if your suggestion is the answer, but I think the key is we need to find a way to force Kobe to play defense b/c Battier is not an offensive threat and Kobe is conserving all of his energy on the defensive end. It pains me to see Battier expending all of his energy and doing everything he can to guard Kobe while Kobe conserves his energy so that he is well rested to knock down shots at will.
