i dont know...hes great but when hes fronted hes nonexistant and then the ball is not correctly distributed to him...pg....were a good team...just not quite there yet
too many minutes for a guy that size. no legit help for him after foot injuries. the rockets get what they deserve. they have never tried to provide help for him. they have never made adjustments even after his injuries. you cannot play a man that size the minutes they play him
i'm gonna stop responding to you b/c you keep bringing up tracy in every post when he's irrelevant. the fact that you keep dissing aaron brooks is very disturbing b/c real rocket fans know we wouldn't advance out of the first round without his contributions. you like yao, fine. you can criticize other players, fine. keep it respectful. but for your info: 93-94 playoffs: kenny averaged 4.1apg, dream averaged 4.3apg 94-95 playoffs: kenny averaged 4.5apg, dream averaged 4.5apg that's your damn center averaging just as many assists as your damn PG. who's creating for who?
Pretty much, but he was saying Kenny couldn't pass and wasn't better than Aaron which is just crazy talk there. Because Kenny was about 5x the PG Brooks was. Kenny could pass very well and he wasn't soft like AB is. It's almost the same way with Yao except we ignore Yao half of the time.
He can, just that he doesn't have the stamina to do it on a consistent basis like Hakeem. A LEGIT up and coming young 7-footer would solve that problem somewhat.
Then your first line was misleading, because I thought you meant he wasn't a playoff player and he's built for the regular season only. That's false. Deke would have helped a lot. a lot. I do agree we need a backup Center and that would help a lot.
You're essentially agreeing with the OP, that Yao just doesn't have the stamina to play 100+ games a year, plus whatever China drags out of him. It is a legitimate knock on the organization that they have never found a young backup for Yao. Hopefully, this will be addressed in the off season, along with the need for a veteran point guard, either to backup Brooks, or to replace him in the starting lineup. Replacing him being my preferred choice.
That and also it's Yao's limitation. I think it's unfair for us to ask Yao to do the same simply because of his size. Besides the difference in talent, he cant carry that load for 40+ minutes. And if you bring fronting defense in the equation.....
lol.. I freaking hate Brooks, but would you please name 10 starting point guards who are better than him? now, go back to Hakeem's days, and could you name 5 PG's that you would rank below Kenny "overrated" Smith? Hakeem MADE Smith and the rest of the gang.. Cassell had a great career, but it wasn't until later in his career that he became a reliable starting PG.. now all this arguing is exactly proving my point: you build your franchise around the most flexible player, because he can fit with numerous pieces that you put on this team.. Yao CANNOT be that center piece, when people say "Yao needs Ben Gordon for him to lead us to the promise land", they're precisely stating why you cannot build a team around this guy.. unfortunately, the fact that he's a money cow means that we're guaranteed to enjoy at least 10 more years of mediocrity/averageness, and this thought really depresses me...
ask nate mcmillan. ask phil jackson. ask dfish. ask kobe bryant. they all have complimented brooks' game. and THIS IS HIS 2ND YEAR for god sakes. yes, brooks played superb FOR A ROLE PLAYER. like i said, are you not satisfied with his overall production this playoffs? hell i watched game 1 with some laker fans and they were raving all over this dude and i just sat there smirking b/c i know he will be even better in 2-3 years. and he will get better.
This is an era a big center can only be the primary weapon once in a while. At least give Yao some reasonable support if you really want him to be one. Is it really so hard to find a reliable PG who won’t ignore him and give him the ball, a legitimate outside threat, and a backup center? I personally don’t think this is really too much to ask, but I’m not the GM. RA also needs to know Yao is a 36 min player. What happens right now is like forcing a 6-to-7-inning starter to consistently pitch complete game for you. You’ll see this pitcher’s arm fall off sooner or later. Yao definitely has his flaws but his strengths are also obvious. Sometimes I can’t help but feel sorry for him. His strengths have never been fully taken advantage but his flaws are completely exposed by the situation he can’t do much about it.
You really think they would have said he's worthy of the 90s clutch city Rockets? Go watch some tapes for crying out loud. Aaron Brooks wouldn't even be in the league in 90s.
bro that kid was probably in diapers when the NBA actually was watchable. im willing to bet he doesn't know who buck johnson is.
backup center is needed for next season. otherwise, we gonna wear our big fella out sooner or later..
WTF? he's averaged 36 minutes in the 1st round, 33 in the current series.. you wanna play him less than 33 minutes? you wanna bring him off the bench so the poor little baby doesn't get "worn out"? it's a man's game.. if you ain't one, just quit and switch to ping pong or pool..
