No, I can't say that I would. Mobley is a huge asset to us, and I believe that it would disrupt our team chemistry. Who knows, we might not have to give up someone like Mobes to get Lewis this offseason. Lewis is someone that would be great for us, but not at the cost of losing Mobley. ------------------
From what I have seen of the two there is no way I would trade Mobes for Lewis. Lewis just hasn't impressed me that much in his 2 years with Seattle. ------------------ [This message has been edited by Sojourner (edited April 29, 2000).]
Are you kidding me? Mobley is... 1) Proven player 2) Possible All-Star 3) Best friends with Franchise 4) a player that has shown chemistry with the other guys. Rashard, on the other hand, has barely shown anything. While he could be decent, Mobley is already that and more. ------------------ Nederland 2000 NBA+stupidity=Brand ROY NBA+common sense=Franchise MVP Houston Rockets Space Center- Not just another ClutchCity.NET clone. No way. I think Rashard is GOING to be a good player. But I dont think he is there yet. I would love to have him on the Rockets, but I think people might be getting a little carried away. I think Mobley is definitely a future all star, but I wouldnt be able to say that about Lewis. ------------------ Now introducing the starting lineup for your Houston Rockets: Starting at Center, from Wake Forets TIM DUNCAN...
I have to disagree. I've only seen Rashard play maybe 3 or 4 times, but his statistics at least, have been about as good as Mobley's since about mid-year... and he's on a playoff team, so he doesn't get all those plays run for him. Also, we HAVE another SG... isn't Lewis a 3? Finally, I don't think Mobley's will ever be an allstar... but Rashard probably will. I think you should nearly always to with the player with more potential, unless you have to win now. I'd choose Rashard in a close call. ------------------ [This message has been edited by haven (edited April 29, 2000).]
you can't trade free agent for free agent. it would have to be 3 months after they signed (or is it still 6?)
Outlaw, We're talking about the two players only, I think. Traj, what do you mean by "stuff"? Are you only referring to NBA rules and cap issues or the team in which they play as well? I mean, would the fact that Mobes is friends with Franchise be a valid argument? I would go for Mobley, hands down. Have we not seen how he's been playing lately? He's a better player than Lewis and at least we know this fact. Lewis has reasonable potential, but will he ever realize it? Mobley is looking terrific out there and has had some All-Star caliber games. Why would we ever want to trade him for Lewis? ------------------ Nederland 2000 NBA+stupidity=Brand ROY NBA+common sense=Franchise MVP Houston Rockets Space Center- Not just another ClutchCity.NET clone. No. Rashard had a decent season and may even be better than Cat right now but there is too much chemistry to just trade him away, not to mention he is good. Besides how many times does Lewis get his number called to take the final shot of the game. ------------------
Nope! wouldnt do tht at all. Cuttino, with no question, has enough potential to become an all star next season. Lewis on the other hand is a good player on the rise but is not worth more than Mobley. ------------------ Dream's Team!
Traj -- you and I are thinking on the same wavelength. As I watched the Sonics game yesterday I was pondering the same damn thing. This can't happen because of sign and trade rules (can't have two sign and trades in one deal), but it is interesting. I don't think I would say absolutely like grummett, but I do agree with him it's a deal I would probably do. Lewis really looked sharp against the Jazz yesterday (14 points, 10 boards) ... guy has huge potential. He definitely needs to bulk up but running the floor with a running Rockets squad is no problem for this guy. Going to be interesting to see what happens with him this offseason.... to get him it would have to be sign and trade. ------------------ NOTHING BUT .NET CLUTCHCITY.NET
Yes, I would do it. Cat is talented, but in order to improve we need more balance from our team. More help from the frontcourt, and I think Lewis is going to be a very good player in the NBA. I would do the deal, besides, you guys all know how I feel about taller is better. DaDakota ------------------
If it were an issue, where Cuttino was a signed player and Rashard was as well- I wouldn't trade Cat, because although we aquire a 3, we give the impression that we break up chemistry. And THAT- will affect little Stevie's decision making when he's a FA. I like what Steve and Cat have going, and I don't see enough in Rashard to warrent trading Cat for him. By the way, don't you people know that Cat, is EXACTLY the kind of player who would light up the Rockets for 40 something in his first re-match if they traded him? People with his heart and fire need to be kept. He's got the drive to be an all-star. Let's just hope he wants to resign. Oh and that comment by stevie.. 'we can be all-stars together" that just sounds terrific. *wink* -Elie17 ------------------
Are you really that sure Cat can be an allstar? I think he has the talent to average 17 or 18 points a game... but he doesn't do much else. Most allstar caliber players have another skill, like rebounding or racking up assists. That's not to say Cat won't be a very valuable addition to any team, I just don't think he'll be one of the top two at his position because his lack of versatility. ------------------
Clutch, Rashard did look great against the Jazz the other night. But so did Cuttino when he scored 35 points and grabbed 9 boards. After further consideration, I think that both of these guys will be equal come next season. Rashard really ended the season on an extremely high note and it looks like he's got a great upside. He'd fit into our running game, that's for sure. The one thing that bothers me still is the fact that he's got a great relationship with Cuttino. How much is that worth? ------------------ Nederland 2000 NBA+stupidity=Brand ROY NBA+common sense=Franchise MVP Houston Rockets Space Center- Not just another ClutchCity.NET clone.
