OK, the late start and finish times of the Rockets-Fakers series combined with my total of 5 hours of sleep this past weekend has caused me to take measures to stay wake during work through this week. I bought a thing of 5 Hour Energy at the checkout at Walmart a week or so ago to try it when I go to Memphis or Tunica and end up coming back late the same night. Well, needless to say I've needed a boost more this week. I tried one on Tuesday and I must say I was impressed with the results. Although it didn't last as long as advertised it still provided a nice boost of energy to pull me through the rest of the day at work without the big crash I got when I used Red Bull several years ago. Due to the game last night, I again went without much rest so I had to pick up another bottle earlier today and chug it as well. Same result so far as I feel a lot more awake than before. As the commercial says, you really cannot beat the caloric intake compared to other energy supplements/drinks and there is not that bad crash associated with the others as well. The only negative I can see, besides the fact I hate putting all that caffeine and other junk in my body, is the taste. It reminds me of Robitussin. Anybody else tried this stuff and like the results? Anybody tried something similar and like the results of that product? BTW, thank goodness the next game is on Friday and that the team the Rockets play next is not in the Pacific time zone.
5 Hour is OK, but if you really need a pickmeup, try "Minithin RUSH" or "Truckers-Luv-It". And for a nightcap, pop a couple of "Top Guns"
Yeah, i use it all the time to help me get through all-nighters. I don't mind the taste b/c it is a shot and not exactly a drink. I guess if it bothered you enough, you could mix it in with something? Either way, i really like this product b/c of the science behind what they put inside and the lack of "crash." Btw, I usually have to drink a good amount of water before/afterwards to avoid this weird noxious feeling i get otherwise.
I've never tried it. When I need an extra boost I drink Java Monsters. I've heard 5 hour energy works great at first, but you basically build up an immunity/dependence to it. I imagine it is that way with pretty much everything though.
I've had both the 5- and 7-hour Energy brands and they both work amazingly. In fact, caffeine from coffee, expresso, Red Bull, Rock Star, Monster - none of them ever work at all. But those little shots really do the trick. Keeps me awake and alert.
They work great. After 3 hours of sleep, I picked up the Maximum Strength 5hr bottle and once again it worked great.
What exactly do you guys do that you need these drinks? I'm curious as to whether it's a fad or what. I remember cramming for tests and stuff and only drinking coffee or Cokes and they worked fine. Of course, I normally only need about 3-4 hours of sleep a night and I'm ok, so maybe I didn't need to be drinking that stuff, either.... hmm...
Like I said, I had a total of 5 hours of sleep between Friday-Monday of last week. I wasn't going to miss the games or my workouts so between Monday and now I estimate I have had about 14 hours of sleep total. Tried tea and coke but they provided zilch.
Kickers 80 hour energy spray works just as good. You just spray about 5 times under your tongue and you'll feel it working in about a minute or so. You'll save money because there's about 20 doses in one spray bottle for about $4.00. They sell it at Walmart in the check out line next to all the other energy drinks.
upgrade to the 6-hour. I think it is made by the same people but tastes better. It is not great, but not unbearable. Its kinda like watered down gatorade
Can someone recommend any energy supplements without sugar in it? I take caffeine pills right now, but they leave me with a dull sensation in mind after a few hours although they work great. I'm looking for some sort of natural energy boost.
My question was more targeted at people I see drinking the stuff for the hell of it. I've seen people at work drink it during the day for example. Every day. And then they complain about a crash later. So they drink more. It's like a crack addict or something.
Yeah, I don;t understand people drinking Red Bull or Rockstar as if they were cokes or something. I take a 6-hour Energy shot, but only when I absolutely have to stay up all night to finish a paper or something.
I tried one for the first time this week after cramming tests for 20 hours straight and I still need more time studying. it did not work as well as some of you have said but i will give it another chance. by the way, the new orange flavor tastes like Fanta so its not as bad as the berry flavor
Whenever I see 6 hour, 7 hour, etc. energy drinks I always think of that guy in There's Something About Mary who wants to come out with 7 minute abs.
