Or not. Usually I refrain from making borderline worthless threads but Odom really got under my skin last night. Given that Scola is probably my favorite Rocket, seeing him get targeted by the Lakers with their jawing, cheap shots and thuggish antics really made me explode. You can call me crazy but I was more peeved at the classless trash talk than I was at Fisher's blatant cheap shot on him. Fisher may be a douche but last night's incident was somewhat out of character for him, whereas Odom has always been a moron.

Let's be very clear about something: Odom sucks. He's a mistake. He's a testament to everything that's wrong with the NBA. The type of player that's so physically and naturally gifted but clearly too big of a bonehead that lacks any form of dedication or work ethic to ever "get it". He's content with being mediocre. He's the type of player that does drugs and ignores his obligation as a role model to the NBA community. He's the type of player that NBA GM's HATE to have -- not because of their lack of talent but rather with how to pay this type of player that shows flashes here & there that's otherwise an underrachieving bonehead. So what happens? Whatever GM feels obligated to pay this type of player a max contract which in the long run skews the entire system and overinflates the "NBA dollar" which is insulting to players that are actually worth the money they get paid.

Speaking of worth the money they get paid: let's talk Luis Scola. Not only is Scola worth every single dime that we pay him, he's worth MUCH more than that. Scola embodies hard work, intelligence and possesses the overall ability to dominate the game of basketball on any level, against any competition. Scola has led teams to championships. He's been a league MVP multiple times. He made the international-to-NBA transition look easy. In his short NBA career he's already been a finalist for awards, established himself as a legit starter in this league and arguably carried this team during the Portland series into the second round. What the hell has Odom ever done besides put up some decent numbers on BAD teams? Simply stated: Scola is 100x more accomplished than Odom and a BETTER basketball player. Odom isn't good enough to do Scola's laundry. And given that Odom has been defending Scola most of the series I say give Scola the green light to ISO, post up and light this bonehead up.

Mods: lock up if neccesary. I usually don't make threads like this but I couldn't help myself.

    Dont be mad at Odom.

If the refs are going to allow him to do as he pleases, why wouldnt he?

It's called "class". He's been in the league for 10 years. Even an idiot like Odom should have some concept of how to play the right way.

This guy doesn't make me mad. He makes me sad. If there are people as painfully stupid as he is what hope does humanity have?

Maybe he has an extra chromosome or two...

Kobe can get away with being cocky because he's that good. Plus, the league would never suspend him or do anything that detrimental to their ratings unless it was beyond necessary.

Trash talking happens but the league does not condone it. You're not "protected", by any means. That's why the officials issue technical's and other various fines and punishments. And hell, Kobe got T'd up for the trash talking to Battier so even he's not immune.

Oh come on. Kobe only got a technical after all the drama that went down. By then it is too late.

Odom was getting in Scola's face all game. They let him do it over and over. Of course he is going to continue to do it.

he's could be dangerous in this series b/c we dont have any one who could match him really well.
but hopefully his "ant-sized' brain will take over and choke him.

Somebody post a vid of him pushing Kyle Lowry all the way out of bounds while chasing the ball in Game 1. That play just pissed me off.

Back when Odom was with the Clippers, he got suspended for drugs, one of his first games back were against the Rockets in Houston. My roommate and I went to the game, nosebleeds. The Clippers were winning most of the game although it was tight, in the 3rd or 4th quarter we walked down and sat in some seats about 5 rows behind the Clippers bench.

We were yelling a lot of stuff at them, just having fun. Well the Rockets went on a run and Odom started getting really frustrated. He had a foul called on him right in front of us and was really upset about it. We went OFF on him, yelling all kinds stuff at him. He looked right at us - The kind of look that made me wonder if he was gonna come up in the stands - And then THREW the basketball up in the stands probably as far as he could, then glared at us some more. He got tossed out of the game and the Rockets won. Ha!

I just want one Rocket other than Chuck Hayes to force him to go right.

Both Landry and Scola have yet to make him go right...Odom ALWAYS goes left......he is left handed......

Even when he goes right (about as often as Scola goes left), he always brings the ball back to his left hand.

Odom is an easy cover, if they just forced him right.

Yes. They need to put a body on him on the glass as well. He tips away more rebounds because of his length, so someone needs to get a body on him.
