Ron has been efficient, under control (for the most part), hit huge shots, and been tough as nails. His rebounding has suffered because he is too busy providing the offense we desperately need. Three consecutive All Star caliber performances for Ron Artest when it matters the most. If he keeps this up, this is going to be what makes him so valuable to our team.

    Game 2 vs Lakers
25 pts; 8/14 from the field; 4/7 from 3; 5/6 FT; 3 reb; 5 asst; 2 stl (That was without playing a full game because of the bullll**** ejection). Ron was incredible in the 2nd quarter, teaming with Landry and Lowry to demolish the Lakers in that period.

    Game 1 vs. Lakers
    21 pts; 8/15 from the field; 3/6 from 3; 2/3 FT; 3rb; 7 asst; 1 stl

    Game 6 vs. Portland
    27 pts; 11/21 from the field; 3/11 from 3; 2/2 FT; 1 rb; 2 asst; 1 stl

He needs to keep it up. Hopefully he's on another epic 3 point streak.

But I still don't know that he needs to average 8 3's a game...

Yeah but is he quietly playing his way out of Houston? Paul Allen will pay whatever he can to get him. Fortunately they probably won't be able to get more than 12 million under the cap. But expect Ron to command that salary to start.

Are you ready to pay 12 Million a year to Artest? And then the real question is will Les pay it. The Rockets are a profitable team as Les' other businesses struggle. Is he willing to go into the salary cap that far for Artest? I think they will but what if Paul Allen can somehow get more money?

he's on a great 3 game spurt here. hopefully it continues at least for this series. he struggled mightily to start v. portland in the first 5 games, but now hes picking it up.

Yeah, those are great numbers! He's been playing well, and I hope he can keep it up, I still can't believe some of the shots he's made.

But yeah, I'm expecting around 9-10 million a year. 11 mil seems to be pushing it.

He has had 2 great games against the Lakers. I hope he can channel his anger at Kobe's cheap shot towards a blowout game. I don't doubt that if the Lakers weren't already goading him in Game 2 they will be doing it for the rest of the series.

he has been playing within his role, even though he has hogged the ball in a few possessions and luckily has been making them, they have to continue

Character is very important the Blazers because of their JailBlazer days. It's one of their selling points for their current team. Pritchard went on record about it and even claimed he feels they can win with "lesser players" with good character and how that's how their franchise is run now. I'be very surprised if they made an offer to Artest given his history.

Actually I'm not so sure whether he can continue this kind of efficient offensive production. He is one of the main reason why we've been able to compete this well with Lakers. We need to really address the fast break points and turn overs in the next game. If we don't give them those easy buckets then we have a very good chance of winning even if Ron has a bad night.

Artest on the Blazers is a very scary thought. He would put them over the top.
If Allan is really serious about getting Ron maybe we can pull of a sign a trade and steal some of there young talent like bayless or Fernandez. I think in the right system Fernandez could be a 18/5 guy, plug assist or rebounds in for the 5 he could pull either one on a given night if given good playing time.

With that said I hope we are able to keep Artest. A smart buisness man always buys low and sells high. If we cant keep Artest hopefully Morey make some smart moves

He's having an excellent run. Thanks for putting up the stats of the last 3 games, Rileydog. Long may it continue!

Fernandez is very 1 dimensional. Terrfic cutter and shooter. Lousy at defense and everything else. We need to get away from 1 dimensional players and get folks that are triple threats.

Good thread. I can't help but laugh though, he hasn't been too "quiet" recently.

I don't see Portland going for Artest. They're a very young team and I think their GM would be worried about how his players would handle it if Artest goes off tangent. Granted, Artest has mostly been a model basketball player this year, but when other teams see him getting ejected in Game 2, they probably get second thoughts. Given his reputation, teams are going to be concerned.

However, I expect contenders with stable veteran presence to offer contracts to Ron. And if he keeps playing well and we get out of the second round, his price will definitely jump.

RonRon is thusfar the mvp for the rockets in this series. He is putting up all star numbers on the offense side, while SHUTTING DOWN ariza on the defensive side. The rockets are getting numerous open shots and looks because of his ability to post up the smaller Ariza, and forcing a double team. He is bringing fire and toughness to this team that no other player brings. RESIGN RON AND GO ROCKS!

Wish Ron Artest keep calm in next games.
Rox need him keep on the court, but not ejection.
If Ron keep calm, ejection can be avoided and Rox have chance to win it even that REFs are help LA.
Show your power on the court to contribute to lead ROX win the titles with Yao and this team.

I agree, RON shot a lot of big three in Game 2, keeping the suspense until the ejection. :D

In the last series, I did notice that he had nothing but good words for Brandon Roy and the Blazers. :)
