That video proves conclusively what I said earlier in this thread. As we all knew, Ron was right all along. Kobe hit him in the throat. It's common freakin sense, really. Ron Artest is not a flopper and does not get animated like that unless there is just cause.
exactly what i saw. but the nba will spin it as the elbow only made contact with the chest in the course of basketball action, so fair play.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OqtZqldY2Gc another angle, but kind of far and camera moves around, not sure if it's been posted..
Jalen Rose is the 2009 Samuel L. Jackson Commemorative Yell-Talk Award winner. <i>"I have had enough of these muthaf###in Lakers!!!"</i>
Ron instantly grabs his throat afterwards, unless he's going for this year's ESPY for Best Actor, Kobe got him in the neck.
Yes. Right before the elbow (when Yao was shooting), Kobe swung his arm around on Ron's chest trying to clear room. Then when the ball hit the rim, Kobe had cocked back his arm and swung again much higher. Kobe's arm dropped immediately after the connection at the neck. In real time, even in "fast" slo mo, it looks like he hit Ron on the chest (twice). But if you do it frame by frame, you can clearly see the hit right underneath the chin.
Here is it is on youtube. Looks like a clear shot to the throat to me. You can pause it and look at it since it's on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=57Xq144bNqo
The just showed that baseline view on PTI.....and basline view of the knee and elbow Kobe did to Shane. (made that look even more blatant because you can see it better and the look on Kobe's face....)
After looking at this again, Ron does have his forearm on Kobe's neck, pushing forward. But I don't think that rises to the same potential severity of the speed with which Kobe snapped his elbow back into Artest's throat area. It's up to the league through the refs. to curtail this sort of thing. Here's what a friend at work emailed me this morning:
Anyone wish that it was Scola that was elbowed? Scola would have managed to have as serious as a Coma on the play. Something tells me it still wouldnt have mattered though. Stern can not afford to let the Lakers lost to a bunch of hard working classy basketball players. It just does not make sense to me why Ron got thrown out last night? That is a game where the refs, left their fingerprints on it, something that didnt happen in game 1.
The elbow hit was around the collar bone area but Ron's throat would also feel the impact. If it's a direct elbow hit at the throat, Ron would get injured or lose consciousness.
I haven't been able to go through all of these threads - is the knee/elbow to Shane getting any air in the national media? That's what I am really curious about because to me, that play was the far worse of the two, but since Shane didn't react, it didn't get any attention. This is kind of why I really have to support Ron's reaction as opposed to Shane's. This stuff doesn't get any attention if Ron just shrugs it off. So I'm interested to know if the Shane elbow is getting any air time because that is much more damning evidence and proof of a history of dirty play. If not with the officiating, it atleast would crucify Kobe in the court of public opinion.
Isn't it a surprise that LD2K and Lakerpride just ducked their head into the water after this vid pop up? That's what rapists usually do. They act out innocent, and whine about unfairly labeled until the evidence is found somewhere it doesn't belong.
