    tim duncan? Definitely.
    kobe bryant? Probably.
    shaq o'neal? Definitely.
    alonzo mourning? No.
    allen iverson? No.
    vince carter? Definitely.
    chris webber? No.
    grant hill? Maybe.

(Note : changed Mourning to "No". For inexplicable reasons typed "Definitely". Changed after Sir Scarvy below noticed it. [IMG] Mourning and Hill are not "Definitely"'s because of age.)

I wouldn't trade Franchise for anyone, typical response from a diehard Stevie fan though.

I wouldn't trade Stevie for ANYONE.

The reason I say this, is because he has a chance at being an amazing superstar who will have played his whole career in one city- A la Jordan/Olajuwon (if we don't do any bone-headed trades.)

He's our unique, one of a kind point-guard, who impresses. It's fine to aquire Duncan, or Shaq, but not at the cost of Stevie Franchise! I have the feeling that a team mean's much much more than the city at which it plays. Or the championships that it wins.

I think its about putting those pieces together, while keeping origins of what helped to build it. The championship will be much much more satisfying. Fan's have favorite players, and it's a luxury to have them play on the home team.

I wouldn't trade Steve for anyone right now. I think the sky is the limit for him, and in a few years he may be better than everyone on that list. Give him time before you judge who is better and worse than him.

We are just having fun here:

I agree with DoD assessment except I would change Mourning to NO (he is 30, the only guy 27+ plus I would defintely take is Shaq--because his size will age well and because he is just that dominant).

The other obvious ommision in my book is Garnett (definetly yes). So my definetly "yes" list includes: Duncan, Garnett, Shaq, & Carter plus maybe Kobe but probably not Grant Hill (in fact I might take Abdur-Rahim or Marbury or Iverson over Hill because of the age difference).

    Scarvy,

That was actually a typo. I wouldn't accept Mourning for the same reason you stated. Age. It's also the main reason I wouldn't accept Hill. Thanks for catching it. [IMG]

There is only one guy I would trade Francis for and that's Kevin Garnett.

NOT ONE T#%@$^%$ person on that list.

I would only consider Shaq, but I hate him, so not even Shaq.

Francis will be a, "SUPERSTAR!" (with hands and lunge)

    NOONE.

Duncan's boring. Shaq's got too big an ego for Houston and besides, to me he'll always be second best--I can't transfer my loyalty, and I imagine too many in Houston are like that.

Overall, Francis rocks, and if the Rockets traded him I would stop being a basketball fan (because I can't root for anyone else).

    tim duncan? No doubt
kobe bryant? I would, he has become a complete player (actually plays D)
shaq o'neal? Yes, the most Dominant player in the NBA since Wilt.
    alonzo mourning? No
allen iverson? I would seriously think about this one, I know most people don't like him, but he can play. If he was put in the right situation he would be even better.
vince carter? I don't know. Vince like Stevie are both still unproven on the NBA level. I would prefer Stevie because I think he is tougher to match up with than VC at the forward.
chris webber? I love C-webb. But I wouldn't trade Stevie for him just because stevie has so nmany great years ahead.
grant hill? See C-webb. Grant is great, and he proved he is a warrier in the playoffs, but Stevie is younger.

Duncan, Carter and probably Cwebb would be the only guys I would trade Francis for straight up on this list. But like someone before me said, I would definitely trade
him for the best player in the NBA today,
    Kevin Garnett.
