In the post game interview last night Ron was talking about toughness and referenced the story of someone getting stabbed with a chair leg during a playground game when he was younger.
Jeebus. Stab someone in the heart with a table leg over a basketball game? Now that's a tru warier indeed!
how do u find it man... 1991 there weren't even public internet... not to mention NYT online... or were there?
the dude said he knew tough basketball he saw a guy get so mad abt a game he broke off a table leg and threw it through a dudes heart...it sounds exaggerated, picture it...it looks like something that would be on Buffy
In his post game answers to reporter's questions Artest talked about this incident that happened when he was younger, the guy in the story was a friend of Ron's. It was part of an explanation he was giving where he said he was not going after Kobe, as he might have done in his younger days, he wanted to point out that Kobe had elbowed him and he was past fighting.
We need to remember a real person died here and not put smileys and LOLs... I'm not one to harp on class too much, but common?
Over the years I have seen some crazy stuff myself when it comes to fights from streetball. Guns pulled and on one occasion someone driving their car on the court trying to run people over.
He was pretty solemn when he told the story, which is what made me believe it immediately. I was impressed w/ the interview.
He got it from me when I posted it in another thread... because I don't have the access to create new ones. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=4489330&postcount=364
Wow I did not know so many thought the man was lying. I thought it was real when I heard it and I thought everyone else thought the same. Why would he make up something like that?
Thanks Dave and Jedi. I missed that I think because I was wathing the postgame press conference on nba.com WOW, that is some crazy stuff right there. Killing someone over a basketball game? And artest saw that at the age of 12? And still wasnt afraid of going out there and playing some hard basketball. He really is a TOUGH guy. Tell Kobe and Fisher THIS is what tough means, not throwing cheapshots.
LOL @ you people who think Ron was lying...why the hell would anybody lie about something like that? Ron doesnt need a story like that for him to be tough he is already tough as it get.
