They cite some NBA source that says Stu Jackson has "narrowed" his reviews to the Fisher play and that Kobe will only get a flagrant 1 with no suspension. We all expected this, if this is correct, but a mother$(&%ing joke. http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-lakersweb8-2009may08,0,7937877.story
Had Ron not done what he did the play would have never even been looked at. Ron did the right thing here and Kobe is going to have to actually play a somewhat clean game from here on out.

it's not a joke... it's the right decision by the league. the joke is that he didn't get a retroactive flagrant 1 for his knee+elbow to shane
what does a flagrant 1 do for us going into next game? do we get some free throws, or are the 2 elbows that kobe's thrown swept under the stern rug?
We should get two free throws at the start of game 3. Kobe didn't really hit Ron in the throat anyway.
he has to accumulate a certain # of points in the playoffs. I'm not sure what it is, but I don't think it's just 2 flagrants..
It's not a joke. I see dudes get hit with elbows like that all the time (we do have Deke on our team, remember). And he wasn't looking at him, so it's harder to argue that it was intentional.
Kobe got the equivalent of a fine. It does nothing for us except Kobe now will be under the microscope. He won't be able to throw his pointed extremities and get away with it in real time anymore in my opinion. Remember when a couple of years ago Kobe was given flagrants in a couple of consecutive games for coming down with his arm and hitting players in the face? He claimed it was a basketball move but the league put a stop to it. Just like that time, with the Shane incident he's gained a reputation of using his elbows for cheap shots now.
That's what happens when you just let things go. If Shane would have made a big deal out of it, maybe somebody would have looked at it then.
I think if he scores 40 points in the game, he wipes the slate clean and can start over at zero flagrants.
I think this was as much as we could've expected. Kobe does those cheap shots, just like how Vujacic sneaks in little fouls. He did it to Cleveland, he did it to Ginobili. And now, he does it to Battier and Artest. There's no question he plays dirty. However, it rarely gets called unless it's really obvious. Ron brought it to everybody's attention at the price of an ejection. That's fine IMO. But, these fouls happen in basketball. A flagrant 1 should've been called during the game, but I'll settle for a retroactive one. I'm glad Fisher's out though. That was a clear hit. It's a fact that these Lakers don't know how to play physical, so they play dirty instead. Unfortunately, their fans don't seem to know the difference. They should watch the Houston-Portland series for clean physical play.
Chris Sheridan is the guy saying Kobe hit him above the "R" but I think he is "R"etarded. Kobe was to Ron's left, if he hit him in the chest it would be over the "T" or "S". It was certainly on purpose, you can see that the move isn't a basketball move, he is definitely swinging his elbow at Ron with intent.
I don't want the Rocket fans to focus on these punks, just root for the Rockets & let the team do the talking. Kobe (like most NBA players) love to be booed & heckled
hmm pretty obvious.. Kobe is a superstar.. he wont be suspended.. and btw.. the baseline angle view of the kobe-artest incident clearly showed that kobe elbowed Artest on the chest (just above the rockets symbol) and not on the neck (acc to Chris Sheridan of BSPN) if that's the case.. surely no suspension PS: I really miss Deke.. he would have shown how an elbow feels.. he plays nasty.. no dirty.. that man was a class act.. kobe is not.
