Ah got ya, I think you won't be able to CLEARLY see it. There is a HD version of real time on here somewhere...
I was eating lunch and the TV in the break room had this angle, the shot from where fans on the baseline see it. In essense, it shows Kobe and Artest from their front. It believe it is showing on ESPN News or ESPN, it's on a loop with the Manny Ramirez story. Someone please, please record/find this and post it.
I saw it on ESPN Sportscenter this morning before going to work. There is a baseline camera angle and in my opinion, I think the elbow didn't hit Ron's throat. It hit his upper chest area, but it looked intentional, not a "basketball play." That's my opinion. My bet is that Kobe doesn't get suspended as it wasn't above the shoulders. Either way, we still need to play our game, keep our heads on straight, and keep being the aggressors. Adelman's been through this. Reference that Kings/Lakers 2002 series, especially game 6. Let's hope history doesn't repeat itself.
I am hoping Kobe plays Gm.3 because he would hear loudest boos ever for a player. It really don't matter if he hit Artest on the chest, or throat, it is clear that he threw a flagrant elbow and kneed/elbowed Battier. I am starting to think that he might of kneed Yao intentionally. I wished it was Yao who would get the elbow because he would get tons of haters. All I know is this Kobe the Clown isn't going to have a MJ legacy when his career is over.
http://myespn.go.com/blogs/truehoop/0-40-31/The-Kobe-Bryant-Suspension-Watch.html the basleine video is at the bottom of this article. easily you can see it is a high elbow near his neck.
Here it is: <object width="440" height="361"> <param name="movie" value="http://sports.espn.go.com/broadband/player.swf?mediaId=4149491"/> <param name="wmode" value="transparent"/> <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"/> <embed src="http://sports.espn.go.com/broadband/player.swf?mediaId=4149491" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" allowScriptAccess="always" width="440" height="361"></embed> </object> DD
It's clear enough that it was intentional.Ron did the right thing by going to the refs but then he lost it by confronting Kobe. He played right into their hands unfortunately.
Looks to me like the elbow itself either caught the chest or didn't make contact. The back of the upper arm looked to get Ron in the neck/chin area. Bottom line is an elbow was thrown with intent to make contact and contact was made in the neck/throat/chin area.
And that baseline video STILL does not show what I've seen on my own dvr, nor does Lakerdouche's "analysis" of the screen captures, none of which contain the exact moment when that elbow flew. Watch the video of the live action and slow it down and you'll see that right after Yao's shot is released, Kobe and Ron are fighting for position. Kobe is low, then he straightens up as the shot hits the rim. He sends an with elbow with both an upward and outward vector. That upward motion is what catches Ron in the throat. Basically, Laker fans are full of it, and they're squawking about a bunch of grainy photos that the editor himself admits don't show much. Idiots.
That analysis is hilarious, its awesome what you can do when you only use the frames that prove your point. If he didn't get him in the neck, he definitely got him in the collar and that's not part of the chest.
Ah, now I see what you guys are seeing. It definitely did not hit Ron's "R" and looks like it caught him in the neck. Regardless, it was an intentional act on Kobe's part and certainly warranted a foul call.
What a frustrating turn of events. Kobe should've got a flagrant, we would've gotten some FT's and the ball, and Artest would still be in the game. INSTEAD Ron gets tossed and it's Lakers' ball. What a dramatic difference that one little play made.
