I keep saying it because it is true, Portland ran the exact same defense and game 6 was the Rockets best effort against it...everyone was moving off the ball and getting easy looks. That is what needs to happen, when teams over commit to Yao and clog the paint....just take the first avaiable wide open look. DD
Brooks did not drive in as much as he did in game 1. That was his fault. Majority of his plays were around the perimeter. He took 1 lay up? He ran under basket again hoping something magical can happen. I think he forgets his 5-5 and cant see much when under basket with all the bodies surrounding him. If Brooks is going to be effective he needs to read the defense better. Also he should drive more on Yao's side. Gasol and Bynum are so worried about Yao and their fronting that they left a gap that Brooks could have attacked. This was not a good game for Brooks. It was not bad but he could have done better.
AB was solid last night. He drove to open spaces and make the defense react like he's supposed to. He hesitated on a few shots and passes, which is unlike game 1.
yeah, my biggest AB complaint was that there were a few times the ball swung to him on the perimeter...he was open...and he passed up on the shot. he needs to feel confident to take that shot.
i thought AB played decently last night. he IS improving. he's still a 2nd year after all. like morey said, the team is still trying to get him to play well 2/3 games rather than 1/3 games. the inconsistency is still there, but he's improving. it's great to see we have 2 capable starting PGs.
you have a lot more bball knowledge than many fans here. i will give you that. but your vanity and ego (on a bbs) is almost laughable. you are always right, eh? knee jerk reaction? ok. yet how do we categorize your reaction to a "knee jerk reaction"? lol.
DD, Agree with you about player movement not creating the passing lanes and such. Do you think the fault falls on all the players, or do you think some fault falls on Adelman?
as MadMax said AB needs to be much more decisive with the ball and much more aggressive with his jumper. There were many times the ball was rotated out to him and he was wide open and he passed up the shot. There was a play in the first quarter where he passed up a wide open three and then a wide open jumper in the same possession and then the next possession down he dribbled behind a scola pick and launched a 3 with fisher closing in and fighting through the pick. He didnt make the 3 of course. But its the decision making why do you pass up 2 wide open shots the previous play and then come down the next play and take a early contested look? I do believe Brooks will get there but he is going to learn by fire thats for sure. I am just a bit surprised considering how aggressive he was with his shot at Oregon. While he was the "Man" there he needs to realize that he is the third scorer on the team after Yao and Artest right now and needs to take those shots. If he isnt a threat to shoot the wide open ones then Yao is going to get sandwiched like crazy in the post.
Actually it is not ego, or vanity, it is frustration. I just get tired of seeing the same threads with the same lack of understanding. I really don't mean to be a jerk, sometimes, I just lose my cool when people post stuff that they clearly don't really understand. My bad. DD
landry got most of his points off of offensive rebounds and mid-range j's, almost all in the 2nd quarter. how many buckets did landry score off of ab's assists? to say it's ab's teammates' fault since he had no one to pass to is a joke. just like to say that yao can't get his touches because it's all due to ab's inability to give him the ball is also false. it always takes 2 to tango.
Clearly it is all the players, believe me Rick has told them to move, and sometimes they do.....they are just not 100% committed to it yet...and it hurts them.... If this team ever commits to moving they will be unstoppable. DD
He is improving and i am sure the Rockets like whats his performance BUT If the Rockets want to win this series. He has to be the #2-4 scorer and stay on his game.
understood. i could lose my cool sometimes as well. (now i need to concentrate on my day trade. lost $4k already today, thanks partly to peaking on this board and getting distracted. )
Exactly. As with most younger players, he still has trouble judging what's a good shot and a bad shot. Adelman has been very persistent that AB has to be aggressive. I think he's still second guessing himself though, afraid that he's taking up Yao's or Artest's shots, and it's holding him back. I think the vets sometimes need to go up to him and remind him he's a great shooter and he needs to take those open looks...give him that confidence to be our floor leader.
He made some turnovers early in the game and later in the game as well, he needs to make adjustments, and i think he will, he's a great player, just gaining invaluable experience and learning getting better after each game in the playoffs and will be a better pg for us come next season
i disagree. AB passed on a lot of open shots. also, Yao was in foul trouble all game... of course their big men would come help defend AB coz there was no insider scoring threat. we'll see in game 3 when refs are not being d-b and make some fair calls. lets see how lakers can stop AB.
Okay, but if his teammates arent moving, why isn't Rick fixing THAT? Instead we see Aaron dribbling around aimlessly, only passing when the shot clock is at 6 or less, and we end up with a turnover or bad forced shot. When Aaron plays well the Rockets look invincible. When he dribbles around like an idiot, we look like we'll never win again.
