I am disappointed at the Rockets

I call this complete BS. I am extremely proud of the players on this play. Here are the reasons why:

    (1) It is Luis Scola. Do you really think he even felt that?
    (2) Kyle Lowry knew the importance and severity of that play. They gave us an automatic two points and Fisher out of the game and possibly the next giving the Lakers a little less depth the next game. If Lowry would have went up to Fisher and got in his face it would have been an automatic technical on him and the Lakers shoot a free throw too. If this were a blowout at that point Lowry would have definitely got in Fisher's face because he does not take that crap, believe me. The only reason he did because he knew we needed it if we had any chance of getting back in the game. He was all over the refs making sure they called it right so he could be assured he made the right call not retaliating. In this regard, I think the Lakers played right into our hands with this play. It was absolutely ignorant and Derek Fisher should know better than to give up two points and not play game 3 just to knock someone down. It's funny cause he actually got the worse of it. For all of you people saying you would rather have him playing. Come on, this is Fisher, a Rocket Killer. He played bad in game 1 but that will not last. He always plays us tough and hits big shots. I would love to see the scrub Farmar playing a lot of minutes and the errattic Brown get Fisher's minutes. Lowry and Brooks will get the best of them in Houston. If you think Fisher, a playoff veteran, is worse than those guys then you do not know basketball.
    (3) The Lakers will come out with that same physicality in Game 3 but the refs will be looking for it. We will know better than to play cheap. We will play smart and physical and not get into that petty crap because we are on our home court. If we do not keep our composure, then I will be disappointed. But I trust that Ron and Wafer will keep their composure next game since we are at home. Everyone will play better at home.

I won't lie. Shortly after Ron got ejected, Kobe had a breakaway for a clean dunk and Shane and (I believe) another Rockets player let him go up cleanly. Someone should have clobbered him...not to injure, but definitely delivered a hard foul.

Well, a couple of thoughts on this and last night's game (I was only able to watch the first quarter and about half of the second):

    1) It is very obvious that the Rockets are in the Lakers head and I don't think the Lakers were expecting the Rockets to be so physical with them.

    2) The Rockets may very well be the "new Spurs" - that team that is very rugged and defense-oriented that always seem to give the Lakers some issues.

    3) To the op - I know where you are coming from but I think things happened and escalated so fast with Scola and the Lakers that it was hard for anyone to come to his aid.

    4) Even though it made our team look like a bunch of sissies, the way the NBA is structured with its rules and such, we did the right thing by keeping our composure. Don't be surprised if the Lakers are without Fisher for Game 3 and maybe even Kobe (although I doubt the league will suspend one of its marquee players).

    5) The Lakers attitude is arrogant and obnoxious - you can tell that they felt that getting to the finals was a foregone conclusion. It is very refreshing that they now know they are in for a dogfight.

    6) A lot of talking heads are surprised at how scrappy and "mentally tough" our team is. That was due to several reasons - one - the fact that the Lakers swept us during the regular season, two - the fact that this is the first time in 12 years (and first time ever for Yao) that we made it to the 2nd round, and three - this erroneous assumption that we are not as strong of a team because McGrady is out; on the contrary, we may be even stronger because we are a more cohesive unit.

    7) I knew the Lakers would come out and give us everything they had and they played a pretty flawless first quarter and yet even with our superstar player hampered by foul trouble and not taking many shots, we were still able to take the lead in the 2nd quarter and have it tied at halftime. They were a lot of positives for Lakers fans to take from this game and not so for us Rocket fans, but still we have to be encouraged that despite everything going against us, we still made the Lakers work to win this game. To me, this bodes well for our chances to win this series.

    8) As long as we win out in Houston, we win this series - it is that plain and simple. I have no doubt that the Lakers are still cocky about winning at least 1 game maybe even both games in Houston since they were 2-0 at the Toyota Center during the regular season. Nonetheless, the way we have played them so far in this series should plant a little bit of doubt in their heads that beating us at the Toyota Center in the next 2 games is going to be extremely challenging for them.

And even if Kobe is not suspended (which I feel he will be able to play Game 3), I still think we will win Game 3 because the Rockets will feed off the home crowd and have the greater intensity compared to the Lakers.

Ok he didn't feel it so he doesn't need a backup. Great. As for Lowrie, he didn't even run to Scola AFTER Scola was put to the ground and he was the guy who saw everything right on. He was talking to the ref. WTF! Watch it. Again, lets be clear I NEVER SAID WE HAD TO HIT SOMEONE, I SAID WE SHOULD HAVE BEEN BY HIS SIDE.

so you want to see the rockets team up in a potential fight. This is playoff! If we lose composure, we lose the series!

Scola is a good actor. His teammates were not sure what was really going on.

Yea the three Lakers who got into Scola's grill are suspended right? Just back him up! Not fight! let them know, no most importantly let Scola know he is not alone. Sigh whatever... just to prove your points you guys are making it sound like I want our guys to knock someone out.

Couldn't we just come to Scola's side without having to hit anyone? I know Yao would probably have done that.

Nah, I mean Shane did give him a hard fould later but it was in the context of the game. Vujadick definitely meant to foul shane. And Kobe definitely meant to knee Shane in the face and Fisher definitely meant to try to take Luis' head off. Allof that and more is dirty play. If they want to play dirty let them continue. But now our eyes are open and be prepared to retaliate and return the blows with in the rules. Stretching them as much as posible.

Again, I would not have bothered with this thread if Odom and Scola went at each other and then Fisher knocked him out after. But this was the ENTIRE Lakers against one guy Scola! And I didn't one Rockets player by his side through the entire sequence?! Come on.............

Although I would have like to have seen that, that would have been bone-headed, and another suspension would have occured.

They are trying to stay in the game. What good will it do to come to the rescue only to be ejected. Scola can take care of himself. If it came to blows, I'm sure the Rockets would take care of each other.

Yes blow, like the one Fisher landed on him? And why would they be suspended if they come to break up the fight and stand by Scola?! Again.. why do we have to hit someone? Sigh.. Yao always come to the rescue of his teammates and breakup fights, so did Rafer and THEY NEVER GOT SUSPENDED. NO ONE came even to Scola's side after THREE Lakers got after him.

I understand your point. But in that situation you don't want the refs to suspect that a browl is going to happen - in such sense rockets teaming up at that particular moment is a really bad idea especially when some lakers are around.

Rick should have told the players to stay where they are whenever something like that happens.

OP probably expect our players to pull out a gun and head shot fisher..then he'll be proud like the lakers' fans are proud of what fisher did

Agree with the OP. Would have loved to see a show of solidarity on our guys part. Nothing flagrant or blatant, just some type of show of force to say " yeah, we got his back".. Nothing wrong with that...

Why do you people like you even bother when you have to twist someone's word to make your point? Do you understand the word solidarity? No it doesn't mean pulling a gun and shooting someone.
