When Yao scores 20 or more points...

In the regular season it was 32-4 or a percentage of 89%.

In the playoffs, it's gone to 3-0.

Combined, that's 35-4 or a percentage of 90%. That's getting into the echelon of the truly legendary teams. Factors out to 74 wins if you convert to 82 games.

That's why I'm not worried about Game 3 or 4 or 6. Yao took himself out of the game this time (with the aid of the men in grey) but factoring in homecourt advantage and hopefully some of the fire I think Yao has in himself for the disrespect the Lakers are giving the Rockets, I think everything is coming up for a series win by the Rockets.

As long as we focus on giving the ball to Yao in spots where he is deadly and as long as Yao stays reasonably on top of his game (getting 20+ the next few games should not be THAT hard), then the Rockets will win this series. Plain as day.

The problem is that Yao has had trouble scoring (aka getting the ball) against the Lakers all year outside of Game 1 of this series. The two games in Houston this season, obviously both losses, featured Yao going for 19 points and 16 points. The alarming thing is that although he played an average of 34 minutes, only averaged 2.5 fouls, and shot the ball well, he only managed to get off 10 shots a game.

In other words, the Lakers know what you know. So it's not going to be so easy to just go out and do it.

The fact is that Adelman have emphasize the princeton offense begin with Yao as the anchor. Players like Artest, Shane and AB (to an extend) get most of their open looks by deferring to Yao. When the ball goes through Yao, the offense has a much better flow because Yao draws double or triple team at times. When it doesn't go through Yao, the passer would waste 10 second off the shot clock TRYING to pass to Yao and failed. (half of the time Yao couldn't establish position from the fronting defense and the other half was just the lack of effort from the passer AB ughh hmmmmm) Then they have lesser time to set up another offense to execute which leads to many ill-advise shots that AB and Ron took. The offense looks really good because of Yao but if Yao can't get the ball the offense looks worse than high school ball. When the offense go through Yao, the team scoring and shooting percentage should be MUCH higher. If the rockets want to fully utilize Yao, they should find more ways to beat the fronting defense. Maybe some weakside elbow P&R or even use pick and roll just to get better position. Most of the time Yao would just grind around the paint area with the pick in the paint but that only works against bigs that are slow to recover. The problem lies within the conditioning of Yao. It takes a lot of energy to move around a 7'6 310 pounds frame and concentrate at the same time. If we have a T-mac that would devote himself into winning (aka take lesser jumpers, more passing and actually play off from Yao), the rockets will easily become a top team in the entire league for the years to come. Too bad, given the ego of T-mac, i doubt that he will be able to do it. I still remember he said something like (I JUST DIDN'T TAKE ENOUGH SHOT TO GET INTO RHYTHM) LoL @ T-mac.

This number doesn't mean much to be because I think Jackson ate his crow pie and won't let Yao be a force for the majority of the series.
