Since the Rockets season is over, hopefully Cato will work on some offensive moves (or get traded for a quality big man). I think for starters he could atleast work on some sort of hook shot or something. Maybe similar to the hook that Kevin Willis used to do for us. He is a great shot blocker, and if he could add a consistent hook shot or maybe fadeaway baseline jump shot, we would at least get some more production out of this frontcourt. Additionally, it would be a good time to learn how to box out. Right now he is just too one dimentional, and if he doesn't develop soon, I think he needs to get packaged. ------------------
hehehe. thats funny. "possible offensive moves for cato"? you'd have a better chance of convincing thomas hamilton to diet, then seeing a good offensive move by cato. But dont be discouraged there are a few offensive moves that cato could do. 1 regular two handed jam 2 a one handed jam 3 reverse dunk 4 tomahawk slam 5 tip in or alley oop slam ------------------ Now introducing the starting lineup for your Houston Rockets: Starting at Center, from Wake Forets TIM DUNCAN...
I just want Cato to go back to the shot blocker he was in the pre-season. Hopefully next year the Catomic Bomb will drop on everyone. ------------------ THE DEAN HAS WRITTEN
If Cato can hit the open jump shot and work on one other shot (like a hook shot), in addition to getting more rebounds and playing defense, I think he will be a perfect fit for this team. We don't need another Hakeem at center (not trying to diminish Hakeem's contribution to this team in the past). We have a guard oriented team and if Cato could deliver 12 points, 8 rebounds, and around 3 blocks, I'd be completely happy. He doesn't have to score a lot, he just has to be able to score enough to keep the other team honest. I think he can give the Rockets 12/8/3 if he works hard this summer. ------------------
Traj, I like your thinking. Your reasonable assumption of Cato is quite acurate. I have many other people thinking he should lead the league in blocks, scoring like 15ppg, and around 9 rpg.
I don't care how many points he scores, or how many moves he masters. All I ask for is the effort he put forth this preseason. I want shotblocking effort and rebounding intensity. That's all i ask.
Even if we needed another Dream Traj good luck finding one ------------------ "We need to fockass".....Dream back in the day
Traj, I totally agree with your take on Cato. Since we are a gaurd oriented team, it does make sense for Cato to complement the backcourt be getting blocks to start the fast break. 12 points, 8 rebs, 3 blocks a game sounds great if he could do it. However, those numbers hardly justify his contract. ------------------
Those numbers H-Town entirely justify his contract. He just has to make those numbers. Last preseason was somewhat glorified. His triple double was against a 300 lb. Shawn Kemp (whom Cato blocked 6x). ------------------
