Do you guys know much about him? Was he play much during reg season against us? I dont think Bynum/Gasol can contain Yao but sometimes these type of defense only guys effect Yao.
Heard that he was a Judo athlete... In one game during regular season, he managed to limit Yao and get some points himself in several minutes, but only after Yao was heavily labored I don't want Yao to meet him after 20-30 minutes of wrestling match with the other two guys
I saw him score a career high of 10pts. He even made a nice jumper, but the announcers were basically making fun of him during the game.
He's from Congo but lived in Belgium (where i'm living at the moment) and he is adored by all belgian ball fanatics. They follow his move's closely even though he rarely plays he is always in the sports papers..
Decent but still flawed big man. As someone said, he could prove to be a defensive tool for the Lakers after they wear Yao and Scola down with their front two. But at the same time, he is pretty much probably isn't getting minutes unless Gasol and Bynum run into foul trouble.
Lets hope Phil continues his arrogance, and over thinks this situation. Its obvious LA does not respect. They were literally embarrassed when they lost Game 1. Really embarrassed. This pisses me off even more. I expect no change in LAs game plan, but only for them to play alot harder. We have to be able to break a high school full court press. AB stop running in to the corner. I'm sure you learned this years ago.
he sucks and can't hold down yao. he's not the right type of guy that you're thinking of when you mention the "defense only guys who affect yao"
If the Lakers want to sit one of their $10 million + a year big men in order to give minutes to Mbenga, great.

If I'm not mistaken he had a pretty good game vs Rox during the regular season and did a good job versus Yao

Big, physical, raw 7 ft er. Shot blocker/rebounder with limited offensive game, but a hard worker. Strong as a ox, good character guy even though he went into the stands to defend avery johnson's wife in a playoff game and got suspended. Had a good game against the rox in the last regular season game. The rox shouldve signed him in the offseason for mle as Yao's main backup. He would give this team a deke like defensive presence with more mobility for 18 mins a night. Jackson might play him more and leave gasol at the 4 more and play odom at the 3 more. I hope in the offseason they get mbenga like I wanted them to get him or birdman, maglior,or elson last summer.
me too. and I guess Jordan Farmar will get some play times. plus Walton's return, game 2 will be quite different. I still believe Rockets can pull out this one. Wafer and Landry will step up, it's about the time.
