I don't mind most jokes but that racist crap is over the line..IMO.

    Do you post?

It seems that your frequency has dropped considerably now that JVG left.

i think your van gundy hate is blinding you.

what exactly was spanoulis' great talent? was he an exceptional athlete? nope. was he an outstanding shooter? nope. was he an efficient point guard with court vision? nope. was he a great defender? nope. was he a 18 year old project with room to improve? nope.

he was a made player who could only play his game with the ball in his own hands.

offensively he's no worse than lowry? now i know you're the one that's kidding. lowry is pretty efficient and his combination of quickness and strength is one of the best in the nba at his position.

This can never be solved or proven.

On one side you have a group of people saying he had his shot, and he stunk.

On the other side you have a group of people saying he was a rookie, and was adjusting to a new league.

Personally, I think anyone in the first group is not capable of making a sound judgement of basketball talent.

Judging a rookie and saying that is all he will ever be, is just flat out stupid.

:) DD, I will admit quickly that I am a sub-genius when it comes to evaluating b-ball talent, especially lately, but come on... someone can disagree with you and still have sound judgment, right?

This V-Span stuff is like Athens v. Troy. Oy.

I know this is a favorite tactic of yours to avoid reality when you are getting Sparta-probed ("it's just opinion, you can't say for sure!"), but the fact of the matter is that it can be, it was, and it is over. He failed. He left. He lives on only and you and your MPD buddy Kill Bill's feta-rotted brains....

What kind of Rockets' fan are you? They are about to play the Lakers and all you can think of is the plight one of a long line of NBA failures, simply because he is a long-departed DD FavoriteTM. It's saddening to see that you are getting your toga in a bunch about this quitting loser who definitively failed his first and only NBA test by proving he wasn't good enough to play in the Association.

DaDa, like Chiron, will sacrifice his immortality to save the amazing Prometheus that is Vassilis from having his liver eaten out every day by the buzzard that is Sam Fisher.

    Sam,

It is ignorant to say that a player that struggled his rookie year was never going to amount to anything.

Now, granted he bailed, and went home..fine...he weenied out.....no argument there.

So many players struggle their rookie years, do you honestly think that is all he would ever amount to, that he would NEVER improve?

Heck, I would bet he is better NOW than he was then.....

Whatever, this is a tired argument...and he is indeed one of my FavoritesTM.

^It's more there's a crowd of onlookers gathered around Sisyphus, as the boulder lies at the foot of the hill, with one of them, a self-styled expert, loudly commenting "look guys, we don't KNOW FOR SURE if that boulder is going to roll back down if he pushes it back up again...seriously this time could be different, in fact, to make that judgment now is premature...you have to give the boulder a shot"

Huh, except that has nothing at all to do with anything basketball related, or a players ability to improve.

Steve Nash struggled, Aaron Brooks struggled, almost every PG that comes into the league struggles.....

VSpan struggled, but he had good games too, the Washington game JVG said he played GREAT....

So, for you to overreact and say he completely failed is just you being you....and...as usual, you are wrong, maybe we should go back and review that AB should have the ball taken away thread....LOL.

You and I have had this discussion over and over....it is a waste of server space, I am not changing my mind, you are not changing yours.....ok.....big deal.

^ It's more that the gods have been fooled by wrapping cow bones (Vassilis) in a layer of tasty fat (his Euro-triumph), as became the custom in antiquity.

I may not agree with you on VSpan, but I do enjoy your prose.

^ "I mean, yeah, guys, I KNOW the boulder came rolling down the hill, but Steve Nash, I mean come on! Steve Nash! Steve Nash means that this boulder may really stick up there that time! Yeah, I know that Steve Nash really has absolutely nothing in common with the Boulder, other than that they both grew up liking soccer, and that Steve Nash was way more successful as a rookie because he was a better player, but...hey, STEVE NASH...see? See what I man? STEVE NASH = BOULDER going to not fall down...it's so simple, it's child's play"

I watched the Euroleague Final Four on NBA TV. I didn't see the USA-Greece game in 2006 and I didn't see him ever play with the Rockets. I don't think he ever got in any games I watched that year. I did see him play in the 2008 Olympics against Spain, USA, Germany, China, and Argentina.

Based on the 2008 Olympics and the 2009 Euroleague Final Four that I did see him play I would say that he is the most underrated player in this history of the Rockets. He is quite a talented player. Anyone care to shed light on why he had such a terrible year when he was with Houston?

Although I can't match the intensity of this e-battle, I will agree V-Span is garbage. Even if you forget what he did here, he had a chance restart his career with the Spurs. He chose to take his ball and go back home to mommy. His attitude sucked here. I find it hilarious that people blame JVG for holding him back. If anything, JVG proved he had a win at all costs attitude. He wouldn't sit a player who could help the team. The fact that Brandon Roy isn't a Rocket , because he wouldn't tank a meaningless game to Denver, speaks volumes. He simply was not an NBA player.

V-span was a very talented player, but he only had one style of play. JVG demanded V-span change his style, but V-span couldn't, so JVG sat him. I think if V-span was on a team that was more flexible (e.g. Suns, Warriors), he would have thrived and become a starting guard. But he doesn't have the versatility of a Derrick Rose or Chris Paul.
