McGrady: Doc says it'll be too hard on my knee to go to Houston and cheer on the team. Yao: I WANNA GO BACK IN!
I'm a little surprised by how clutchfans are getting angry at each other over this. Hopefully Tmac redeems himself and says something about the Rockets going all the way. He needs to hire a better PR person and think before he opens his mouth. Rehab or no rehab. I would not miss a rockets game - especially the freaking playoffs.
Like I've said before, if we could get this kind of passion about feeding homeles people and sheltering displaced women and children, it would make this country a much better place. Of course we have the internet gangstas and the heartbroken tracy followers that keep whipping the same dead ass horse. Maybe if people spent as much time fostering relationships with their kids or spouse or making sure they can still live at their current level if they lose their job, then we could make huge strides toward being better people. Tracy isn't the devil, he's not the guy that stole your gal (antisonic), he's just a basketball player that gets paid a kings ransom to play a kids game. A lot of us wish we could make 20m a year, but god didn't bless us nor did we have the work ethic to make it. This is about the HOUSTON ROCKETS! No where have I seen that tracy or yao or scola owns the rockets. When they do, let me know.
T-Mac should have known better to have stoked the fires. I mean, this isn't like March Madness, where you have so many more permutations of teams reaching the sweet 8, 4, 2, what have you. It just speaks volumes, imho to how T-Mac has already tossed the jersey and moved to a different mindset. Problem is - he's still under the employ of the Rox, and even asbent the jersey, one would hope that he still has the Rockets on his mind. Instead, once his body checked out, so too did his mind (sound familiar?) That's what I don't respect him about. I don't care if he's being honest or objective. He ain't playing. He's not a sportscaster analyst. He's an injured player who SHOULD be at the games. Don't tell me for the MMs he makes that the ONLY place or equipment to get rehag is Chicago. BULL$HIT!!!!!!!!! If he believed in the team. If he believed himself to BE part of the team. He'd put his foot down and go to Houston instead of this defer defer defer crap which got us in this position to begin with. (Ironically good for us I might add). I mean, why he sudden balls to say "nope, I'm done, time to rehab?" How he handled the dissemination of that decision was just as bad as SF3 going to that Super Bowl thing. No respect for the organization OR RA OR the team. and you know what? It's consistent with his personality and the reason why he hasn't been past the 1st round. For all the T-Mac fans out there, yes he's damn talented, but honestly, honestly, can you really justify the "oh, I think the Lakers will win it all" comment knowing as he does that the Lakers AND the Rox are in the same conference??? Mentally checked out? I THINK SO. To which, I ask you, what more evidence do you need about his loyalty and dedication? Best thing will be seeing the Rox BEAT the damn Lakers. It'll be interesting to see his reaction then. angrygrumpyGranTorinoEastwoodSAGE
This is the last thing I'll post in this thread. With respect to being back next year, or the year after that, or after that... Honestly, T-Mac is NOT doing himself any favors with how he handled his injury, and now in the surgery's aftermath, how he's handled just being "in touch" with the team post surgery. Meanwhile, Artest is DOING HIMSELF A WORLD OF FAVORS with his play, his leadership, his good rapport with the fans. I mean, this dude is doing EVERYTHING right from a P.R. standpoint and a performance standpoint. Houston fans are forgiving fans. They are understanding fans. They're not like New York fans who won't hear of excuses. But when the majority of Houston fans see their patience run out... imho that is telling. If you were DM and you had finite dollars to spend, how on Earth could you justify giving T-Mac an extension vs. signing on Artest for a few more years??? Not saying they are mutually exclusive, but where finite dollars are concerned, one has to "weigh" these sort of trade offs. Simply put, Artest and T-Mac are competing to BE with this great organization. And I think even if T-Mac is available again his role will be greatly diminished to the point of not warranting anything near a max contract. Simply from a FGA perspective, can you really see us reallocating 20 or so FGAs back to T-mac from the balanced (and rising) scoring I might add from the likes of Scola and Brooks??? You know it's also just a matter of time before KL also increases his output, as true of a more consistent Brooks. Make no mistake folks. Artest and T-Mac are competing for dollars and the "marquee" place, i.e. the complementary franchise face, of this wonderful franchise. There is no big three. If anything three is SCOLA. T-Mac is best viewed as relegated to that group of aging journeyme stars like Finley or Stackhouse who some teams may proclaim will put them over the top by adding that 6th man. Sure, that would great to keep him. But change is oftentimes good. And I'm not sure it's doable for a player previously the face and franchise of the team simply taking a reduced role on that same team. My two cents. theSAGE
I"m starting to hate Tmac more n more what a fckin Loser! He's worst than AI I dont know why some of the fans even want him back .... He fcks up the teams. Maybe it was him that we couldnt get out of the 1st rd.
Tmac's greatest contribution for this team is injury, so that Rox can now become better and better without him. After watching game1 vs Lakers, i remember what Tmac said several days ago. So we should show congratulations on Tmac, it's his words make ROXers more cooperation for winning Lakers' game.
I actually believe that Ron or someone brought up Mac picking the Lakers to win the championship while disregarding the Rockets and used it to motivate the players to go out and prove Mac wrong and send a message that they have moved on successfully without him.
KG is a punk a$$ bee itch and his Scarface impressions and trash talking act is getting old. TMAC sucked balls this year. Fact. He DID make his team better. His passing and creativity WERE amazing. That however is all over. Saying he had little to do with the 22 game streak is foolish. It is also foolish to say he is just about scoring points. He played great defense in the playoffs, and had amazing shot creation for his team in the playoffs. His time in Houston is done and I wish him the best on getting back in the NBA.
This was an outstanding post and needed quoting in hopes that some will see it and heed the bolded parts. Lets try to get the conversation more civil and we wont need to close yet another screwed up McGrady thread.
the difference is that we are try to be bus drivers and take people to school about the Rockets while the other 'fans' prefer to throw the other Rockets under the bus except for their favorite player And Zboy's thread only exploits the feelings of Rocket fans on this subject and it's funny too.
I could care less about the 2nd rd, its all about the rings to me. All or nothing. This isn't a baby step, dave ramsey debt snowball thing. The hourglass is going down fast and this team has a small window if they have one at all. Dallas and Miami were in the finals not to long ago and now look. Remember how the 86 rockets and 95 magic were going to have numerous titles? So go ahead and work 30 yrs and get your gold watch, that's not my style. Detroit went to 5 conf finals and now they're a .500 team.
