Does Kobe intentionally kneeing Shane result in a suspension?

Doublejet posted this in the Battier thread, and I think it deserves more attention.

Shouldn't this video be sent into the league? I know throwing an elbow and a punch results in a suspension.

How is kneeing someone (resulting in stitches) any different?

I'm posting this to get a larger uproar about it.

while the first knee sucked and all the league could say its incidental or accidental

but the second dig with the elbow could have easily been avoided by kobe and that should warrant a suspension but this is Kobe he wont get suspended over that though he should. I would love to see him get suspended for it but its the playoffs its kobe bryant its not going to happen I am not too upset over it. Had TNT made a bigger stink about it over the air when it happened, maybe there could have been something but since they kept mum on it there is no pressure for the league to do anything (unlike the rondo fouls)

I am impressed at how Battier handled the situation though. The guy continues to impress me.

I think the worst that will happen is a technical foul assessed afterwards and kobe pays a small fine

    I don't want Kobe suspended.

    The tone was set.

The Rockets came out and showed all the folks in La La land what it means to be BIG.

The Rockets were BIG all night long. They out-hustled, out-muscled, and out-played the Lakers in all aspects of the game.

When Yao came back out of the tunnel, you could just see the energy leave the Lakers faces. They knew that from this point on.....ITS ON!

I want Kobe there so when we beat them, no one can say, "Kobe missed that game so the Lakers are still better"

The Lakers may be better on paper, but the Rockets, at this point in the series, were better in real life.

I am sure that the association will never do that.
I don't even ask the opponent to be suspended, I just want fair foul call on yao.:(

The question isn't do you want Kobe suspended, its does he deserve to be suspended. And to me, knowing what Dwight Howard got, he certainly should be suspended. It was CLEARLY intentional and there is absolutely no place in basketball for that sort of thing.

he's a douche but that didn't warrant suspension. i'm pretty sure everyone in the league saw that as cheap. karma's a b****.

battier was did not recieve stitches as a result of this play. he got cut on a play after this where vujacic accidently elbowed him in the face. i think kobe should be fined 25k for the play showed in that video.

After reviewing the footage, it is clear that Battier committed a blocking foul.

Game one will be awarded to the Lakers. Jeff Van Gundy will be fined $250,000.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

    Sincerely,
    David J. Stern

Shane's face fouled Kobe's knee, and then he headbutts Kobe's elbow.

If Rondo can't get suspended, there's no way in hell Kobe does.

But at the same time, Howard got suspended, and his elbow was just about as bad as this, IMO.

Everyone is expecting the league to let this slide. This site has heavy traffic around the world and everyone by now who visits this site knows about that dirty play. The league really needs to do something as this really sets a bad example from a superstar and could set the stage for retaliation in this series.

    THIS IS LAKERS DEFENSE.

First, this knee on Shane. Then Vujacic elbow on him. Then in the fourth Yao.

What the hell are thy going next in game 2?

When I saw this last night, I was in totally shock and disbelief. Total classless on Kobe's part and he was trying to intimidate Battier. Battier walking away shows what a class act this guy is.

KOBE SHOULD BE SUSPENDED. It was not a mistake but deliberate, and I hope he tries it against Artest, and see if he does not lose a tooth or 2.

This has made me lose respect for Kobe. Jordan would never do that, and even James, with all the hard fouls he gets every night would never do that. Thats why he lost the MVP to a much better all round player

    What a Jerk!!!!!!
