I have hated this guy forever. Whenever he calls a rockets game, he just states the obvious, and seems to pull for the front runner.
He gave Yao alot of credit last night, he said how proud he was of Yao and everything... But he does talk alot! Chilcutt
I think he gives great insight- I like him as a commentator. In game 4, his commentary was really good, he mentioned things I would have never noticed before. I just always find it funny when he says something like "when I used to coach Michael" because that team revolted on him and put him in the place he is today....
Hes hilarious. He obviously still holds a grudge against Phil Jackson. He will NEVER say anything good about Phil as a coach and most likely will root against any team he coaches. If you listen closely, you'll be able to tell too.
oh come on... I like Doug. He's not completely informed about the Rockets, but overall he does a good job.
Who cares about Collins. The man I hate is Craig Sager. Nice yellow jacket, there, Craig. So... who you rootin' for again?
wow something must be wrong with you if you don't like doug collins. this guys is one hell of a commentator and he speaks the truth. reggie miller is one guy who sucks. other than that tnt commentators are really good. the best as far as i know. tnt>>>>>>espn
i agree, he's better than any ESPN commentator but..... dear god I hate how he's against the Rockets, I remember last year vs. Utah, every 2 mins he reminded us "lets see if the Rockets can sustain a lead at halftime", and he's one of the morons that kept reminded us that we haven't gotten out of the first round and yesterday when we were up by 11 with a min left he says "you know the Lakers have a run in them", really? Seriously? but whatever, they won.
i didn't hate him before, but i didn't particularly like him in this game, we had a 4 pt lead that was constantly shifting between 1,2 and going up to like 8, but we still were scoring relatively even with the lakers for a while. but everytime the lakers scored it was "the rockets are in trouble now" really? we're up by 1, but we're in trouble? the lakers are good, it's just stupid not to admit it, but they are beatable, as is any team in this league, we have to play well, and i pray we don't come out flat in game 2, we can't be content with 1-1, this isn't a young immature portland team, it's a veteran team led by a mad scientist...play well and be humble is all i can say
He showed a lot of concern when Yao went down and was happy to report after the injury timeout that Yao was going to come back.
Nothing wrong with the first statement because we were undermanned without Yao. The second statement was kinda silly but the Lakers are a team that can't be counted out till the end. He might want them to win but he does praise Yao too.Don't see him as a hater, but I respect your opinion.
I was just about to say that.. said he looked like a clown or something? lol.. dude didn't know wtf to say to that hahah
Crazy that this is a thread, as I just noticed last night that he is one of the better commentator options offered to us by the national media. IMO he is just fair/balanced enough, his bbIQ is better than implied herein, and what I really like (compared to everyone else is) the tone of his voice, he's easy to tune out when you wanna just watch the game w/o some guy rambling.
Like most "experts" he is slowly running out of negative things to say about Yao. Sure, I think he genuinely likes Yao but it never stopped him from criticizing Yao or predicting what Yao would do wrong next. Last night, he gave his respect although Barkley is giving some respect too now so I think just about everyone is on the bandwagon at this point.
