Caron Butler, F, UConn: Three workouts, in New York, Houston and Memphis, have left three teams stunned. Teams knew about Butler's toughness, NBA body, athleticism and his ability to play both inside and outside. But his perimeter shooting, ball handling, and basketball IQ have blown them away. The word has spread fast that Butler may be, next to Duke's Jay Williams, the player most prepared to contribute immediately to his NBA team. Of course, teams were saying the same thing about Rodney White last year. The difference is that Butler is a tenacious defender and a proven leader. If the Rockets can't swing Yao Ming, and can't come up with a trade to their liking for Williams, don't fall out of your chair if Butler is the No. 1 pick in the draft. They were that impressed ...if they want this guy , maybe they should trade down to #3 and get him anyway
I don't think he is going to be #1, but I think he should be #2. Jay Williams should go #1 and Butler should go #2. But it is not going to be like that, because someone is going to pick that guy from China? I think that Butler and Williams are the best players in the draft and one of them is going to be ROY. Edited out the non-appropriate stuff -keeley
i dont know about this. taking him #1 would be a waste since we could get him later on in the lotto. trading the #1 wont bring in a starting center and the #3 or 4 pick so we could get butler. we need to fill holes to make the playoffs.
well, if we want him that bad, we should trade w golden state and get the #3 and something else for the number 1 pick. or we could give them the number one pick, kenny thomas, glen rice, the #15, and maybe something else for the #3 and jamison.
if we really want butler, how about trading the #1 and cap problems (rice or cato) for #3, adonal foyle (just as a servicable center) or fortson and a future #1 from GS (within the next 3-4 years)?
How about Houston trades the #1 pick for GS's #3 pick and GS's unconditional first round pick next year?
How small is Larry Hughes? Would a Francis Hughes make a good backcourt? Then we could bring Mobley off the bench. To me it looks like a cool lineup but everyone will want to be taking shots and theres only one ball.
I agree Sherlock, Quentin Richardson had many flashes of brilliance last season for the clips. He led his team in many catagories last year. I wouldn't trade for Larry Hughes. We already have a good 2 guard in mobley
WARNING another conspiracy theory! THis time of year you can't believe all the reports you read about players in the draft. So many teams throw out false info hoping to help their own cause.
I believe he was talking about Jason Richardson of GSW. I want Caron Butler. He's got some JYD, a little P-Double, some T-Mac all rolled into one. He's the prime player of the draft. Sometimes I pray to God why we had to land the #1? I'm down with the 3rd. Or 2nd. Caron Butler comes with less baggage than Ming, a more-ready body than Ming, and no foreign complications. In a perfect world, the Rockets would choose Caron #1, in my opinion.
