I like the feel, look, and sound of nothing but net. I like the angular peculiarity of a nice bank shot. I like leaving the nets hanging. I like a tough basket from the paint that just snakes over the front of the rim. But... my favorite hoop is the one where the ball just kisses the back of the rim enough to change the shot's arc to a straight line down through the net with only a slight sway on the strings. Sweet!
I love the bank shot from about 10 feet inwards. But, to me, nothing is as good as a nothin' but net from behind the arc.
There is also something to be said for the full-length or half court shot that surprisingly banks in, and makes that THUD sound. (Note: when said shot is made AGAINST your team, said "THUD" sound usually coincides with the sound of your heart hitting the floor, foot kicking the TV, TV being thrown to the ground, etc.)
i love the sound of nothin' but net on a chain net... the greatest feeling in the world as you slowly jog backwards away from the shot to inbound the ball in your classic "make it-take it" games...
